i've owned both and would have to go with glock.
grip safeties should only be on 1911's IMO
and glocks jus feel more natural in my hand.

If I had to choose ONE or ANOTHER, the XD all the way. Nuttin against Glockentickers, I just prefer the XD.

I would gladly trade 5 XD's for a Glock

Re: XD vs Glock vs 9mm, .40, .45
Very tough call for me since I’m a fan of both Glock and XD.
I voted for the Glock 9mm, which in my particular case would be a G19…but as I said, it was a very close thing indeed.
I have Glocks in 9mm and 40 Cal, and an XD 45 (Compact).
The choice of the 9mm is based primarily on familiarity with the weapon. I’ve put a lot more rounds down range with the G19 then I have either the G23 or the XD-45.
I also have not found a holster for the XD that I like yet.
Given more time with the XD, and a holster I like, my vote may change.

Re: XD vs Glock vs 9mm, .40, .45
I love the XD9 which I carry with the standard clip. I have the sub-compact which sits really well for me when carrying. My big thing as it seems to be the case with most XD owners is the grip safety. Its just an additional feature which provides me with some extra psychological security. I find the grip more comfortable than with the Glock but that might have something to do with the size of my hands though.
I recommend the XD9 as a great carry weapon. In response to TX Rancher about the holster I've found the perfect one in the Minotaur MTAC from Comp-Tac. Its extremely comfortable and can wear it against skin without any discomfort.

Re: XD vs Glock vs 9mm, .40, .45
Last Sat I was returning from an out of town business trip and while driving through Conroe I stopped to check out Shooters Station (nice folks there, my first visit to them but I was not treated as a stranger). Since I was still traveling I did not want to shoot my carry pistol so I looked at their rentals. They had an XD 9mm so I tried it. I was very impressed with it.
I have owned and shot Glocks in the past but I have to say that if I had to use a striker fired pistol the XD would be my first choice. I thought the trigger was much better than the Glocks that I remember and my hand felt very comfortable holding it. Accuracy was certainly more than acceptable for a carry pistol.

I have them both and like them both but I prefer the XD .45. Grip safty, loaded shell indicater and besides it just feels better in my hand than the Glock.

I shot my brother in laws Glock, didn't care for the trigger and it just didn't feel right in my hand. My XD fits like a glove in either hand.

I point more naturally with an XD, but like both.
I chose .40Short&Weak because it is a versatile catridge, you can go 40S&W, .357Sig, or 9mm with a quick change, which to me is cool.

FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.
