Search feature inaccurate

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

I'm been having a problem getting a compete index of the posts so the search feature will be accurate. When upgrading to Olympus, the search indexes don't make the trip and they have to be recreated. I've let them run for hours and they just aren't getting complete. I'll try again.

So, when you run a search you may or may not find posts and if you do, there still could be others that are not being reported. I'll post something when the indexes are rebuilt.

I am still rebuilding the search index. At this rate, it will take at least another two days. Apparently, it runs only while I have the board up on my machine and I keep forgetting and closing Firefox. It's up to 27,000 posts and we have almost 138,000 so it has quite a way to go.

I bet you have a permanent migraine from this update!
the new version is really nice, though, so thanks.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

After more false starts, "500 Server Error[s]," and server-side restrictions, we now have a fully operational search feature. :hurry: No one cares about the details, but the problems were a combination of incorrect settings on my end, misunderstandings by tech support, and failure to communicate by the administrative folks at my web host. In retrospect, building the search index should have taken less than five minutes.

If you search for something and can't find it, please try again and be sure your search string is correct. If you still don't get the results you should, then suffer in silence because I don't want to hear about it!!
