Church carry
I'm hoping you guys can clarify the Church portion of the law for me... It used to be totally off limits (and I had left it as that) but as I read the current statutes I read it as only off limits if the 30.06 sign is posted. Can someone give me a definite answer?
Thanks,
keith

That is basically correct. There must be a 30.06 sign or oral notification.
- Jim(i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply
if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.

But not too far off - I attend church in a restaurant, 100 beer signs and a cross.flintknapper wrote:Kalrog wrote:Churches are treated no differently than any other private property WRT CHL. Proper notice is required to legally bar you from CHL on property.
Or if they: derive greater than 51% of their revenues from the sale of alcohol.
O.K., just kidding.

OK, I'll pose the question being begged.jimlongley wrote:I attend church in a restaurant, 100 beer signs and a cross.
Legal pundits weigh in:
Is it legal to carry in an "illegal" environment i.e. an establishment that is normally 51%, if that establishment is NOT being used for its routine (51%) purpose (bar being used as a church)?
Is the establishment i.e. building itself, defined as 51% or is the activity that occures within the establishment defined as 51%?

It is illegal by the language of the statute (PC 46.03) to carry in a bar or school building, period.shaggydog wrote:Is it legal to carry in an "illegal" environment i.e. an establishment that is normally 51%, if that establishment is NOT being used for its routine (51%) purpose (bar being used as a church)?
There are some statutes that relate to use, such as a polling place on election day.
Jim said restaurant, not bar.

They have a blue TABC sign. " . . . The unlicensed possession . . ."shaggydog wrote:I'm aware of that. His remark simply made me think of the question.seamusTX wrote:Jim said restaurant, not bar.
edited to add: There are no "bars" per se in Collin County, we have restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages, and you can pretty much bet all of them will be <51%.

I would have a 1 on 1 with the preacher and remind him of the colorado incident, and the incident in missouri where church members were attacked by a gunman,in colorado preachers own words stated ,hundreds of lives were saved by her actions. It seems like people bent on doing harm and making names for themselves are tageting arge groups of people they feel are not a threat to their plans.
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

You're welcome, any time, we start breakfast about 9:00 on Sunday mornings and service starts at 9:30 with music (usually) by a Texas Country artist.KC5AV wrote:Now that's a church I'd like to visit.
Lots of info on our web site, including past artists.
