CHL Friendly Places

How about a list of places, especially businesses, that are CHL friendly so we can show them our support and send our business their way when we have a choice? I'm not thinking of places that just don't have a 30.06 posted. I'm thinking of places that openly support us.

I have never seen "CHLrs Welcome!".

I have seen "Firearms unloaded except for CHLers" at Gander Mountain.

I see "Unlicensed possession" signs.

Personally, I think it might be a bad idea for most businesses to do this, much for the same reasons it is to post 30.06.

Most businesses want to attract as many clients and shoppers as possible. Posting a 30.06 alienates us gunnies, while posting an "anti-30.06" will alienate the "bradys".

If I was running a store, I wouldn't care if someone spending their money on my goods or services liked or hated guns, as long as they saw value in what I was selling or providing.

Now, having said that, I havn't seen any places that post an "anti-30.06" message, and if I DID, I'd be sure to spend extra time/money there if feasible.

I've seen several "small shops" that have a CHL holders welcome signs...

there's a print shop in Wichita Falls
there's a small time oil change place that was in Ft. Worth (not sure if it's still open, it was on white settlement rd.)

I'm sure there are more... haven't seen any in Mesquite yet, but if i see one i'll let everyone know.

Everett's pharmacy in San Saba. They don't exactly have a welcome sign, but there is a flyer advertising CHL classes posted right at eye level on the front door.

At the Target across from the Parks Mall in Arlington, there is the usual "Possession of an unlicensed weapon" sign, plus another no guns sign. I don't remember all of the exact wording, but I do remember that it says guns are prohibited unless you possess a concealed handgun license. I'm thinking that whoever went to the trouble to specify that CHL's are okay is probably friendly to them. It's the only Target I've seen that has a sign like this, though.

Target won't allow Veterans groups/ Boy scouts/ Gril Scouts/ Military/ or any association linked to such to use their parking lot for fund raisers of any kind... and not just standing at the door asking for money etc... They have a store policy which specifically stops certain groups and not all.. i no longer shop there.

I banned Wal-mart for numerous reasons and switched to target. I find this info above very upsetting. I boycotted united way when they banned the boy scouts stance on homosexuality. Do you have any more information on this ban by Target? Soon I'll be doing all my shopping at 7-11

Only my opinion, but I will continue to shop at Target. I don't believe it is the obligation of any store to provide facilities for others to solicit. Yes, I am a veteran and I do support the Boy Scouts but I prefer not to have to wade through them when I'm on my way to pickup a quick item at the store.

Again, this is only my preference. Please feel free to boycott any place that you like for not agreeing with your position. I fully support your position as well as my preference.

I can't remember the wording at Sportsman's Warehouse in Lewisville, but it basically says they welcome CHL holders.

FWIW, the Cabela's in Buda, Texas has modified one of their entry signs to note that CHLs are okeydoke. Up to my last visit a couple months ago it had a sign at the entrance that required all guns to be checked at the info desk just inside the door. (I never checked my carry gun as this just did not make sense).

Just went last thursday (6 Dec) and the "check all guns" sign had been modified to note that this did not apply to CHL folks.

Not sure this qualifies as a "WELCOME CHL'ers!" but close enough for me...

AAA in San Antonio has a "No Firearms" sign at the main entrance, but the sign states that it does not include CHL holders. They get my business.
