From Waco, head south in Austin. From Baylor University, it should be +/- 90 miles. Exit 38th 1/2 Street, head west (right) at the light. Drive until you hit Lamar Blvd. (about 2, maybe 3 miles) and head south (left) at the light. Drive a little less than a mile and you'll see McBride's Guns (the name of the shop, by the way) on your left. Enjoy it; it's one of our state's best sporting goods stores and everyone there is VERY pro-2A.

Nemo me impune lacessit.
I was in McBrides just the other day. Apparently no guns were stolen. There is a coin shop attached to McBrides and that was the area that was hit. The Austin SWAT team tear gassed the place because they didn't know if anyone was still in the store. I asked a lady working there if they had much damage. She said that the big pain for them was having to send all the clothing out to be cleaned because of the tear gas.
I hope you have a good time there. Across the street is an army surplus place that you might want to check out as well.

In a newspaper interview, the owner came across as being a bit peeved at the SWAT team; dogs had been sent in and didn't find anyone, but I guess they didn't believe Fido and decided to play with the tear gas anyway.dwsUSA wrote: . . . Despite having a nice selection, McBrides is one of the most, if not THE most, expensive place in town to buy stuff.

They moved to a larger location at the corner of 51st and Airport. It's called Banana Bay. I don't like going there because of their high prices and lack of useful selection. I much prefer The Quonset Hut at 29th & Guadalupe.rspeir wrote:I'm pretty sure the surplus place isn't there anymore. It looked like the property was for sell or had been sold.

Yup. I won't buy guns there. They sell them at around MSRP, sometimes more (their website does not reflect their in-store prices). Their ammo is ridiculously expensive. It's like buying ammo at the range but without the range to justify the price hike. The only things I buy there are holsters and cleaning stuff if I can't find it somewhere else.HankB wrote: Despite having a nice selection, McBrides is one of the most, if not THE most, expensive place in town to buy stuff.
They do have a good selection, though.
