Re: Uvalde School shooting
What I am not understanding is how this guy was not being reported left and right for his deviant behavior. I am not OK with red flag laws as they will end up being abused by divorce attorney's and government officials to punish innocent people, but when someone is acting like a total lunatic, nothing is done to stop them.

Unfortunately, reporting suspicious behavior and/or acts against people from certain backgrounds and with certain lifestyles would get you either fired, banned, canceled etc these days, making you the villain and the target of the PC culture. Examples, people practicing Islam, “alternative” lifestyles lgbtq……, people of color, any of those would get you on a cancel hit list in this upside down society.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 9:03 am What I am not understanding is how this guy was not being reported left and right for his deviant behavior. Don’t want to labeled as bigot, racist, intolerant etc.
Of course, fair game if you happen to be white, Christian, heterosexual male. Report away.
That is my take why some of these nuts are not being flagged.

Re: Uvalde School shooting
The education system, law enforcement, and the legal system really need to get a handle on this stuff before it gets worse. That's the sort of stuff that can very easily lead to "vigilante justice". All it takes is one wrong comment or threat from one of those sicko types (or worse, some dumb kid who thinks they're being "funny" and thinks they're making a joke), and a concerned parent decides that since the police won't take care of it, the only way to prevent another deadly incident is to take matters into their own hands. I grew up in the South Texas Brush Country, there are miles and miles of empty mesquite brush where the remains of illegals are found many months after they die trying to walk through. The coyotes, the buzzards, and the wild hogs can reduce a corpse pretty quickly.philip964 wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 8:36 am https://nypost.com/2022/05/30/new-video ... dead-cats/

Re: Uvalde School shooting
Hopefully this is true..
Lawyer: Uvalde teacher did not leave door open that gunman used to enter Robb Elementary School
Lawyer: Uvalde teacher did not leave door open that gunman used to enter Robb Elementary School
A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation said surveillance video and audio verifies the employee removed the rock holding the door open and closed it.
I am not a lawyer. This is NOT legal advice.!

If it is true, how on earth did the shooter just walk right in? It would have to be unlocked. Which is not much different than hanging open.RoyGBiv wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 4:05 pm Hopefully this is true..

The rock could be a chunk of asphalt or some kind of composite. A small pebble could have fallen off when she moved it and that pebble could have prevented the door from shutting completely and locking.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 6:10 pmIf it is true, how on earth did the shooter just walk right in? Sometimes good cannot catch a break and evil triumphs.
I am reminded of a pivotal scene in the book and movie called the Da Vinci Code, where the hero nudges a spent brass from a warning shot by the bad guy into the threshold of the armored car they were going to be locked in. The BG slams the door to the armored car shut, but it does not latch and our hero the immediately shoves it into the face of the BG knocking him out and they escape with the armored car.

Re: Uvalde School shooting
I think this is incorrect. I read that it was the chief of the school districts police that was not responding to a second interview request. He is not part of the Uvalde PD.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Yep. Disgusting. But some of those officers and that school police chief are more disgusting and do not deserve our support. I'll defend all of the great officers out there (which is most of them), but these bad ones over the past few years sure are making them all look bad.

Re: Uvalde School shooting
The Chief has obviously heard our advice to never talk to the police after you are involved in a shooting. The governor and the media have already characterized his decision as wrong and are looking for someone to blame for this tragedy. We all know who is primarily at fault here (the shooter), but there are enough mistakes that someone else will go down in flames. Will it just be a career ending decision or are they going to try to put someone in jail over this?
Look at what the media is doing to the Uvalde ISD Police Chief. Look at what they were doing to the unnamed teacher who propped the door open to go get something from her car. Does anyone on this forum still think the advice to not talk to the police if you are involved in a shooting is bad advice?
PS> I do not know if the ISD chief made a bad decision or not. I was not there and I do not know what was happening when he made the decision. I do know that the investigation is now going to take an even longer time to complete, at least in part because of the rush to judgment. I also do know that there are very different protocols for police handing an active shooter versus a barricaded armed subject, either with or without hostages.

I thought the policy in school shootings changed a while ago. Instead of waiting outside and doing nothing, the new policy was to go in as fast as possible? Why was that not done?srothstein wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 10:53 pmThe Chief has obviously heard our advice to never talk to the police after you are involved in a shooting. I think the fact at least one child was shoot after the police were outside the door says it all.
I think the fact parents were tased and cuffed outside the school says it all.
I think the fact that at least two parents (border patrol agent with a barber"s shotgun and a mom) went in the rescue their kids while the police were tasing and cuffing parents says it all.
I think law enforcement lying to Gov Abbott about the details of the non existent school resource office engaging the shooter says it all.
Never talk to the police after being involved in a shooting and never depend on them when your life or the lives of your family is on the line.

Re: Uvalde School shooting
The woke hate the police, or they pretend to.
The communists are OK with the police, as long as they are compliant.
The conservatives used to support the police almost without question, except now see above.
Why does a town this small in a county this small even have a police department? The sheriff should be able to handle the whole county.
Given that they have a police department, why do they need a school district PD with 6 employees?
With so many points of failure, they have the ability to shift blame all over the place. Ah, now I see.
