Looking at some of his standards:
I wonder how many could achieve that today? It is very possible with techniques of the era which are rare today.From cocked and locked, holstered, draw and fire one center mass hit at 25 feet (8.3 yards) in 0.6 to 0.8 seconds.
I use COL Askin's "elbow up, elbow down" technique (MAJ Askin's at the time this article was written) and it works like a charm.
