He also made a comment about regretting that the "lab leak theory" had become such a distraction with no evidence it ever could have happened.philip964 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 12:56 pm Some head of the NIH or some top govt. virus outfit just retired, an old guy. In his retirement speech he said that there was a group of virologists who felt that herd immunity was the best way to fight the virus. He resisted their approach, if they had gone that way hundreds of thousands would have died. He said that.
He apparently didn't realize 800,000 have died already in the US with more on the way until we reach herd immunity, as it appears that is the only way it will stop.

Xiden has been exposed.
Pray he does not get it. He is frail enough he could actually die or worse be put on a ventilator.
This would complete President Ford’s prediction.
A woman President.

They want everyone boosted. Giving it to children and pregnant women. Issues with vaccine side effects including death. Especially soccer players.
Omicron virus appears from Africa. Vaccine does not stop transmission at all.
Its looking really bad US deaths up from 393 a day in July to 1362 a day now. USA cases up 4 times and this is an average of 151 days to omicron not really affecting it yet.

China healthiest place on Earth. Only 63 cases a day up from 26. The US leads the world in cases and deaths, but everyone is way up in cases, deaths not so much. Turkey and Russia have doubled in the last 150 days. Brazil and India new cases have really dropped. New York takes back the lead in cases up 10x daily deaths have tripled. California still leads the nation in deaths second in new cases up 5X. Texas is in 8th place in monthly new cases, but second in deaths. Over the last six months Texas deaths are up almost 5X, up to 146 average a day. Texas new cases for December are up 23X over the average of the last six months. Houston area data seems to show 5,390 new cases a day, six months ago it was around 550 a day so that is up 10X. Texas Med Center had to create a new graphic as the cases blew through the 3000 case per day max they had used for the graphic if that tells you anything.
Not sure what is happening now. Vaccine is now just a thing to make it more survivable. Questionable if masks do anything. I'm wearing one when I am in a store, but I think it just makes me feel better. The monoclonal antibodies which have shown to really work are not available in Texas at the moment. Can't get Ivermectin or Hydrowhat ever its called. I'm taking zinc. I've cut out flying now. I feel maybe this latest Omichron variant may be the thing that kills if off as it may provide immunity for the next one. Your guess is as good as mine. Everyone stay safe. Be free to make your own decisions.

I am curious about one thing. How many people died on an average day in the Houston area pre-COVID? In other words, are those 13 per day proven to be excess mortality? And if not all of them are excess mortality, how many are?

I wonder about that also. Hospitals are incentivized to claim covid as cause of death. I am a perfect example. I am 75 pounds over weight, 60 years old and smoke cigarettes. So if I drop from a heart attack and turn out covid positive, was it covid or my really high risk health condition? I bet they would blame covid even if I showed no symptoms before dropping.K.Mooneyham wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 7:42 pm SNIP

Don't forget to subtract the increased murder rate when you make the comparison.K.Mooneyham wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 7:42 pm SNIP

Excellent point, in that it highlights that there are a several variables that have to be taken into account. In that vein, I would add increased suicides from lockdowns as well as business and job losses.srothstein wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 10:56 pmDon't forget to subtract the increased murder rate when you make the comparison.K.Mooneyham wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 7:42 pm SNIP

An interesting (to me anyway) excersise I do periodicly is to go to the Johns Hopkins site that has global covid data and just click on each country one after the other and look at the graph of cases. I don't so much look at the raw total numbers which is also relative to population but just the shape of the curves. For each wave that has hit, it's been interesting to see the curse where it starts and and as it then spreads around the world. Here in this last wave where you really saw a big wave start was in eastern Europe and then into Germany and the Netherlands. Those places so far seem to have crested once again and are starting down but then you see other places still on the steep rise side of the curve. Italy, Spain, France, UK all at what is probably peaks now or still rising as it moves across.
The same pattern has occured multiple times now.
Another thought, I'm curious if the big move to home testing (which I'm happy to have available) will skew numbers. If people testing positive at home are not sick enough for the hospital, those numbers will never be counted. May not matter but just a thought that we could have false drops if we have significant numbers testing at home.

Data from 2014 shows Houston (Not all Harris County) had about 15,000 deaths in the year, so about 41 per day in 2014. Deaths by all causes.K.Mooneyham wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 7:42 pm SNIP

USA sets record as nearly 500,000 new cases reported yesterday.
A restaurant I visited last night was short staffed.
Today a Sticker stop location I visited to get a State inspection for my car was closed for no reason. ( 30th tends to be a busy day for them).
Good news - my neighbor exposed on Sunday morning is fine. His breakfast friend was confirmed to have Covid and is almost over any symptoms. ( he previously had Covid, two shots plus booster, he is in his 80’s)

Don't go on a cruise regardless of vaccine status says CDC.
What does that tell you.
New Mayor of NYC says he will keep old Mayor's vaccine mandates.

It tells me what I suspected all along. Our government is involved in a horrid conspiracy against we the people. The vaccines are ineffective. Temporary reduction in deaths at best. We are all being lied to. What do we the people do? The exact same thing the Jewish people did in Germany that allowed Hitler to gain ground. Nothing! That is what we the people do. NOTHING!

Prepare for viral blizzard as US hits almost 500,000 cases a day.
My boosted friend who got Omicron was over it in a few days, but did give it to his boosted wife who was also over it in a few days.
