I kid you not, the heated suits are amazing. A 12volt connector is all it takes. They even have sox but those things cook my feet so I don't use them. and you will end up turning the darned thing down it gets so warm.srothstein wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 9:14 pmI am getting wimpy as I get old. Sorry. Family stuff has kept me up late. Could not be avoided. I'll have to miss this one. Y'all have a good time.

Sorry I can't make it! While you're eating, I'll be sitting in the dentist's chair. Let's try this again though!

Looks like it’s down to you, me, and my daughter if you’re still in? I also texted you.

Arggghhhh. Had to extract the tooth, it was badly infected way down deep, below the tooth. Thought he was going to tear my jaw off getting it out.
So how did the meetup go?

Great meeting you three this morning. Great conversation. Maybe one day we will get a regular SA meet-up going.

I also thought it was a great meeting. Well, except for Rudy's contribution of course.
I am going to create a new thread and see if there is enough interest to start a regular monthly meeting.

Rudy's contribution? What's that about? Never been there myself FWIW, just curious.srothstein wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 12:50 am I also thought it was a great meeting. Well, except for Rudy's contribution of course.

Sure a regular SA area meeting would be great, if we could put it together.

When we all met at the Rudy's as planned, we found that the store was open but they did not sell breakfast at that location. We had to relocate to Bill Miller's.Ruark wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 11:42 amRudy's contribution? What's that about? Got it. Well, wonder how many people we have from the forum in the San Antonio area......srothstein wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 12:47 pmWhen we all met at the Rudy's as planned, we found that the store was open but they did not sell breakfast at that location. Re: San Antonio breakfast at Rudy's (11.13.21)
The surprise for my daughter was a great hit. A huge thank you to Steve and Jay for making it out there. Ruark & OlJames3, I really appreciate the intentions and completely understand that somethings other things take precedence. She loved it and had a great time. I know from Steve's and Jay's she might have seemed a little less than thrilled, but she is NOT a morning person and hadn't fully awakened yet.
For me, I was very pleased to have met to really great guys. I'm sure we all probably have preconceived notions of what someone will be like before you you meet them for the first time after you've talked on the phone or in a forum such as this and I gotta say that Steve caught me a little off guard. From everything he's written on this forum I know he is a really smart person, but had not thought of him being as funny as he is. The entire breakfast I also kept having this nagging feeling I've met Jay before. Either that or reminds me a lot of someone else I know, but can't figure out who. Both guys are very nice and I hope we get to meet up again sometime. Maybe next time I'll sit in on one of ya'lls breakfasts if you get that up and running.
Ruark & OlJames3, you guys missed a great gathering, but sometimes stuff happens. Ruark, I hope you got your issue taken care of.
The rest of the trip for my daughter and me was also a great success. She got a much needed change of scenery at some father/daughter time together. This was her biggest trip on the Wing and managed very well a total of 1,220 miles on this trip. I got some great footage from the cameras installed on the Wing. Even the moment when she dropped on of her gloves along 337 in the rear camera. We went back and found it, not because of the camera, but just sheer luck that if came to a stop in plain sight in the middle of our lane and she didn't wait to tell me about it. The only problem was that there are not a lot of places to turn around on areas of that road and we had to go about 1-1.5 miles before finding a spot and that traffic was also clear.

Re: San Antonio breakfast at Rudy's (11.13.21)
Glad you had a good time! I ended up at a weekend dentist's office. The tooth, a rear molar, was very painful, even antibiotics and painkillers wouldn't touch it. It had to be extracted, with all that entails. He had to get pretty violent getting the blasted thing out; it wouldn't let go. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
Well, hopefully we can do a SA-area meetup again sometime. We need to find a regular meeting place that's agreeable to everybody. Maybe do it every month or two. Take care!

I forgot to mention one other thing. We had no issues with anyone that we were open carrying, even me in my shoulder rig. I had no comments from anyone anywhere in the area the entire trip regarding my firearm. On the plus side, Saturday at break fast I was wearing my "Let's Go Brandon" shirt and received several comments about it. One couple at breakfast wanted to know where they could get one and several thumbs up while out at the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Shop on the Twisted Sisters. I did get a few thumbs up while at a steak house in Bandera, but was sure if it was the shirt or firearm or both. There were several large FJB signs on properties in that entire area, so I wasn't expecting any issues.

Re: San Antonio breakfast at Rudy's (11.13.21)
Per my signature line, all readers can see that we North Texans hold 3 LTC breakfasts a month.
C-dub is one of our friends, and attends as often as his work schedule and grand children allow.
I applaud C-dub for trying to put this together for San Antonio folks, although it was just a onesy.
Houston LTC's have had scheduled breakfasts for years. We in N. Texas have had 3 breakfasts a month for years.
San Antonio and Austin: Try to get the train out of the station and have at least 1 Saturday LTC breakfast a month.
If you think chatting with screen names on the forum is fun, you'll LOVE meeting with LTC friends in person.
Someone needs to make a decision on the venue, then publish it in the thread. What will happen otherwise is that everyone will make a suggestion for someplace that's a 1 minute drive from their own residence, and NOTHING gets chosen.
Rudy's BBQ usually has plenty of room for large gatherings, and they don't care if you spend hours there visiting.
That's a suggestion, YMMV.
I would suggest starting a thread with a very clear screen name such as "San Antonio 2nd Saturday breakfast".
Don't piggyback on to this one since it was date-specific, and as they say in the Navy, "this is obsolete by event." (it's happened).
Then as each scheduled breakfast is approaching, bump the thread as a reminder, and keep it on forum page 1.
Good luck, SA and Austin friends.
Over and out. SIA.

N. Texas LTC's hold 3 breakfasts each month. All are 800 AM. OC is fine.

3rd Saturdays: Golden Corral, 465 E. I-20, Collins St exit, Arlington.
4th Saturdays: Sunny St. Cafe, off I-20, Exit 415, Mikus Rd, Willow Park.
