Will you renew your CHL?

#1

Post by mojo84 »

Do you plan to renew your CHL once unlicensed carry becomes effective? I plan to renew my CHL when it expires. What is your reasoning for your decision?

Yes, I’ll renew.

Makes buying easier when you don’t have to wait for the NICS check, and I travel to states that honor CHLs but not constitutional carry.

Yes I will renew.

I am sure there are more, but these pop up in my minds pretty quick.
No NICS Checks buying guns.
Reciprocity with other States.
Driving through School Zones lawfully with my LTC.
Legally pass the signs below that are at Walmart, Kroger’s, etc…

Yes, not even a real decision. So much easier to replace those guns I continually lose in boating accidents.

I'm expecting the Wal-Mart type signs that you pictured to disappear (eventually) after September 1st. Since they are mandated by the TABC, the mandate should be going away. It might be a test to see which businesses are on the ball. I expect to start seeing 30.05 signs pop up starting in August, if I understand the requirements of the new law. Maybe I got lost the in the morass of all of the changes and my expectations on signage are no longer valid.

Yes, I will be renewing for the same reasons given by the others.

The sections of the Alcoholic beverage code requiring those signs are repealed when HB 1927 becomes law.

(1)Section 11.041, Alcoholic Beverage Code;
(2)Section 11.61(e), Alcoholic Beverage Code;
(3)Section 61.11, Alcoholic Beverage Code;
(4)Section 61.71(f), Alcoholic Beverage Code;

(8)Section 46.02(c), Penal Code;
(9)Section 46.03(a-1), Pena lCode;and

I plan on renewing due to the low cost, reciprocity, and stronger protections provided by the LTC.

Yes, mainly for campus carry. But I would also renew it for all the previously mentioned reasons.

Yes, For the reasons cited already. Also if I should get stopped it gives most LEO's some level of comfort to know I've had an extensive BG check to be eligible for a LTC.

Yes, I’ll renew, and for several reasons...
  1. Interstate Reciprocity.
  2. NICS.
  3. Discounts on transfer fees.
  4. Federal Gun Free Safety School Zones.
I’m sure I can think of other reasons given a few minutes, but those are the ones that jump out at me.

Certainly, for all of the reasons previously posted. According to the testimony that Dr. john Lott gave the House Committee during the hearings, those states that enacted some form of Permitless Carry saw an initial drop in CHL/CWP/LTC applications, but those numbers increased to previous levels or higher after about 6-9 months. Folks realized that knowledge of the law was essential to avoiding some of the issues of being in the wrong place and what was and was not effective notice as well as a desire for the benefits of reciprocity.
