Any updates?

Re: Any updates?
I have not heard them explain it. I heard point of order made and people were called forward and then it went silent. Just a couple of admonishments to the gallery to keep quite, sounded like some protesters. They were told if they did it again the gallery would be cleared. It's been silent other than that.

Waiting to find out. I remember a rule being cited, but cannot recall what it was and I'm unable to rewind to hear it again. Waiting on the chair to rule on the POO.

There are going to be numerous amendments on this. Those offered by the anti-2a folks will be an attempt to water down the legislation. Those offered by the pro-2a folks will be an attempt to strengthen the legislation. Amendment 2 was offered by Schaefer, the bill's author.

Do I understand the current discussion correctly to say that oral notice would be required regardless of signage? I like that.

Re: Any updates?
If you mean amendment 3 no that's not what is said. What's being said is that it would be a class A instead of class C if you walk past a sign. Currently it would require notice and still not complying to raise to a class A. Not a good amendment.Soccerdad1995 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 12:28 pm Do I understand the current discussion correctly to say that oral notice would be required regardless of signage? I like that.

Amendment #5 allowing an officer to disarm a carrier just when they enter a government buildings.
Conflating with mass shootings. How will an officer who is a bad guy versus a good guy with a gun. Ramos nearly crying she is afraid of mass shootings.
Voted down 85 to 59

Amendment #6 to lower the age of CC from 21 to 18.
Schaefer not supporting.

While there are merits in the argument, it sounds like this is one of those places where you go for what you think will pass vs an ideal. I suspect this amendment would be a poison pill. Let's get constitutional carry passed. Then it can be improved where needed like CHL was.

Ramos is saying that 18 year olds are too impulsive. I think she is arguing for increasing the voting age to 21, isn't she?
