Reloading dies score

#1

Post by AndyC1911 »

A nice older gentleman on another forum saw my posting about my .44 Automag and invited me to PM him as he said he had some brass and dies for it from when he had one of those pistols years ago - so I did, he gave me a brief description and he wanted $50 + shipping. He sent the box before waiting for payment and I was gobsmacked when I opened it:

The brass alone is worth more than $50 - the one single taper-crimp die cost me $53 on eBay a few months back - there's a case-trimming set to convert 308 brass to .44 AMP that is typically $150.... 500x LR primers, and so on. As disclosed, one sizing die had a case stuck in it - but 6 minutes with the RCBS Stuck-Case remover fixed that.

I'm heading to the post-office today to send him a money-order, and I plan on making it a lot more than he was expecting :thumbs2:

I have about 150 pieces of 7mmx08 nickel plated cases if you want.

Unfortunately I'm tapped-out on purchases for a while - doing a swimming-pool revamp is sucking up every penny I have, but those are cool cases!

It was unreal - I'm still in a bit of a daze but I did set up one set of dies today so I can try them out. Went to USPS and mailed off his M.O. - I hope his jaw will drop a little in return ;)

Good deal! I suspect the older gentleman had no one to leave those items to and wanted them to go to someone who needed them. Congrats!
