That's the way I feel, when you find one that you like stay with it, so no matter which gun you are shooting, the optic is familiar.Deitz83 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 10:13 am My wife has 2 red dots on her competition pistols. One is the Springfield XDM OSP in 9mm and the other is a Browning Camper 22LR. Both of her red dots are Vortex. She loves them and her times have gone down considerably. When we purchased the Springfield . All I remember her saying, is I want the same Vortex, because I am use to the one I have.
You can be just as far off target with iron sights, both need to be adjusted properly to be accurate. They also have iron sights that co-witness with the RDS, if the RDS fails you can still aim. I don’t think an RDS is any more apt to fail than any other part on a pistol. I’ve had iron sights break and even fall off, nothing is 100% reliable. It really just boils down to getting used to them.txhighlander wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:10 pm I looked into red dot at one time, thought for the money range time with iron sights a better investment. I have a friend that carries a Glock 19 with a Holosun everyday. He finally got me to try it a few weeks ago. The target was one of the 5 bullseyes on 1 target. I picked the upper right and slow fired 15 missed shots, they raved about my tight group that was in the center of the target. At 7 yards if it was a defence shooting I would be dead relying on a red dot. No way no how on a carry pistol. My friend is former pd and shoots on a regular basis. Red dots are to me like adaptive cruise, adaptive braking and lane departure systems on newer cars. It is fun while it works but it is destined to fail at the most inconvenient of times.
I know it's not exactly a triangle but Primary Arms should have a chevron soon (possibly late December)...Charles L. For me, that's the absolute best set up for any RDS, but, sadly, Leupold dropped the triangle and now offers only dots.
This is what I’m kinda waiting on. I’d love it if they made one with green instead of red.dawgfishboy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 12:32 amI know it's not exactly a triangle but Primary Arms should have a chevron soon (possibly late December)...Charles L.
