Glock actually has three safeties. If the owner placed a handgun in his waist band without a holster don’t blame the handgun for doing what it was designed to do.

Gotcha. Didn't know Glock finally improved their toys. I still have the image of a safety-free plastic kids' toy in my mind from when I shot some years ago. I think they had a tiny trigger safety lever, that's all. So my information seems outdated.

The three safeties on a Glock have been there from gen 1 to gen 5. You have a trigger safety which has to be depressed in order for the trigger to move to the rear. You have a drop safety built in as well as the firing pin safety. A Glock will not go off if dropped it physically can’t. When a trigger is pulled on a Glock it pushes up on the safety plunger that is a piece of steel that blocks the firing pin or striker. Whatever you want to call it. If the trigger is not pulled 100% completely to the rear the gun will not fire. I am not saying safeties never fail but even if the plunger just magically broke and let the firing pin go forward, it wouldn’t have enough spring pressure to hit the primer hard enough to go off. When the trigger is pulled it cocks the spring on the striker the rest of the way so when the plunger moves up and out of the way it has enough force to detonate the primer. Here is a good video on how a Glock works and it’s safeties. It is in fact safer than a 1911 when you boil all things down. And more reliable.

Glocks are not for everyone just like 1911’s are not for everyone. I love my 1911’s, but when I found the Shadow Systems and that I could change the angle of the grip to a 1911 style I was hooked. It goes bang every time with everything. Not a Glock, but built off the Glock’s concept.
