Notorious ACB
Apparently the NRSC is selling T-shirts with Notorious ACB to raise money, they are playing off the Notorious RBG and putting in Amy Coney Barrett, the leftist looneys are losing their minds over this, soooo I want one of those shirts!

The left are losing their minds over it, claiming that republicans are stealing their "original" idea, while ignoring the fact that THEY stole it from rapper Notorious BIG.crazy2medic wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 4:06 pm Apparently the NRSC is selling T-shirts with Notorious ACB to raise money, they are playing off the Notorious RBG and putting in Amy Coney Barrett, the leftist looneys are losing their minds over this, soooo I want one of those shirts!

I'd prefer the Handmaid's Tale T-shirt.... She's much cuter than any SCOTUS Justice I can remember.

It’s a parody story from the Babylon Bee News https://babylonbee.com/news/amy-coney-b ... h-liberalscrazy2medic wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 7:51 am Ordered my Tee Shirt, let the games begin!

Re: Notorious ACB
It's actually a bit deeper than that. The Babylon Bee story is referring to a 'controversy' stirred up in a fake news article first published by Newsweek. In that article, titled, "How Charismatic Catholic Groups Like Amy Coney Barrett's People of Praise Inspired 'The Handmaid's Tale'", they posited that the base storyline in the dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood was inspired by a a group that Barrett belongs to.Keith B wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 8:47 amIt’s a parody story from the Babylon Bee News https://babylonbee.com/news/amy-coney-b ... h-liberalscrazy2medic wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 7:51 am Ordered my Tee Shirt, let the games begin!

This proposed link was completely debunked by Constance Grady on Vox this month. Apparently, the book was inspired by a different group named People of Hope, not Barrett's group People of Praise.

Re: Notorious ACB
Atwood herself ain't helping things all that much. Here's a piece from the National Review just a few days ago: "Margaret Atwood Contradicts Herself on Whether Judge Barrett’s Religious Group Inspired The Handmaid’s Tale." Published last week, author Kate Schatz, as part of a program with The Humanities Institute at UC Santa Cruz, interviewed Atwood, and Atwood denied that the People of Praise inspired her book. The very next day later Politico did its own follow-up piece, and "Atwood seemingly backtracked, saying she was not sure if People of Praise had inspired her work, and saying she could not say anything definitive without consulting her records — which are currently locked away in a University of Toronto archive that is closed because of the pandemic. 'Unless I can go back into the clippings file, I hesitate to say anything specific,' Atwood told Politico in a statement. Politico made no mention of Atwood’s contradictory comments, which were published just one day earlier."Vol Texan wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 4:20 pm It's actually a bit deeper than that. As an indie author, I find this complete bull. I know darn well where the inspiration for each of my novels came from. I've NEVER been in doubt or had second thoughts.Rafe wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 6:18 pmAtwood herself ain't helping things all that much. Now, my writing as evolved, and I have taken inspiration for new sources in subsequent novels. But I have never doubted where I started from on a specific novel. I Absolutely do not believe that any other author would either. Writing a book is like having a baby. It's not an experience you'll easily forget. You darn well know who the daddy is.

Wow. It's pretty bad when a leftist hit piece gets debunked by Vox of all outlets.Vol Texan wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 4:20 pmIt's actually a bit deeper than that.
