I've always been if the belief that .45 is better than 9mm. But 15 is better than 8.

Well, I carry a Para 1911 with 16 of 10.

I've considered carrying my Tanfoglio elite match lol. 15rds of 10mm.

I have a Tanfoglio set up with magazines, slides and barrels to shoot: 10mm, 38 super and .45. Don't know why I don't carry it. It is a great pistol. I also have a small frame one set up for 9mm, 40S&W and .357 SIG. The Sig barrel is laser accurate.

Not so much anymore although I did for a couple of weeks about a month or so ago as I had an urge to feel it again. Mainly don't carry it now because of weight and capacity. Trying to sell one of mine to go with a 1911 in 9mm as I've been mostly switching to that caliber for cost reasons (although that doesn't really seem to matter as much now).

Currently carry my Glock 21 right now as I just got it back from getting some slide work done. Does that count?

Would the beretta 92x compact be considered a 1911? It has a vortex grip that gives it a 1911 look.

I own several and rotate them in and out of my EDC. I also carry at least 3 if not 4 spare mags. That helps to balance out this chubby body

I'm assuming your talking about the guns chubby frame, right?

I still carry Springfield Armory 1911 A-1 TRP.
2 - 10 rd reloads.

Yes. That is, if you count a baby 1911, then I do. Colt Defender Lightweight (officer size, aluminum frame), plus one extra mag. I just prefer the .45 ACP over the 9mm. And the officer frame 1911 carries and conceals very nicely for me.

Very comfortable and perfectly happy with my little baby boy, but I had been long considering a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 compact in .45 ACP (10+1 capacity) just for a little more round count. Plus my sons keep saying: "dad, you NEED a "striker" gun!" (And mainly just because I haven't bought a new gun in a while). But alas, I waited too long. Can't find one for love or money now!

Every now and then I’m thinking of carrying the 1911 rig, but man, little p365 with 10+1 of 9mm+p and another two spare mags are hard to beat in terms of weight size etc.
1911 is a great shooter though!!

Nope, and actually thinking of selling a few of them, as much as it would pain me to do so. If one of my Glocks hit the ground and got kicked across the pavement; meh, who cares (and that's actually happened to me in a training class). It'll still run, and actually look BETTER with a little "battle wear" on it. If a Glock was in some insane scenario stolen; meh, it's a Glock. I'd be irritated, but hey, it's just another plastic gun among millions.

The 1911's, on the other hand,would be an absolute tragedy if any of the above occurred. I'm likely looking at it wrong, but the Browning design in steel is part of our heritage and freedom from the past, and so must be revered and protected. While I ABSOLUTELY LOVE 'em, the new polymer wonder guns are just better; "maybe" more reliable, fewer moving parts, lighter, higher capacity and easier for the average gun owner to run. Not to mention the ease of replacing and upgrading parts - generally NO gunsmithing or fitting required; just drop in and go. Add that to the fact that the ballistic engineers have now developed 9mm loads that work every bit as well as .45acp, and the 1911 just doesn't make carry sense to this engineer.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the 1911 platform, AND the .45acp. It was the second handgun I bought as a young man back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, and will always own a few. BUT, as always, technology has advanced the art, so now I pack, and rely on "plastic" guns. That said, I'm heavily invested in the .45acp, so am now contemplating a path forward beyond the Glock 30sf that I bought several years back, but haven't carried much. Do I keep the caliber for "fun", or does it make sense to buy a couple of larger "battle guns" that I can strap lights and optics on for home defense as backup to a rifle????

Day in day out 1911 in 357 sig caliber, will occaisonally carry .45acp or 10mm. Bedside table Springfield XD with mounted light in 357 sig because the beauty of the 1911 should should not be marred by rails, lights or lasers.
