City in NC approves reparations

It's started, a city in NC has approved reparations Fox News: North Carolina city approves ‘reparations,’ apologizes for role in slavery.

Frankly I don't see why, how far back in history are people responsible?

City of Asheville just encouraged all of the productive people to move out of the city.

My ancestors were enslaved by the ancient Romans. I'm still waiting on the Italian people to give me the money they owe me!

Two good points Paladin but as you can see in the news article it has begun. Although no direct money payments are being paid to individuals it's still happening. The board voted 7-0 for the reparations, how can we prevent this from happening? Yes the people elected can be voted out next election.

All the mayors are for it.

Making people who never owned slaves, pay people who were never slaves.

If 40-80 percent of them didn't drop out of school, if 1 out of 3 didn't have a felony record, if they didn't commit over half of all murders.... maybe they'd be a little more "equal." Reparations... what a crock.

It will be interesting to see if any citizens of Asheville decide to sue their city council over this.

If they are the descendents kings and queens of Egypt as i have seen claimed, I think they may owe those funds to all the Jews of the world.

I found out several years ago that my 4th great grandfather on my moms side owned 4 slaves. He brought them with him when he came to Texas from Tennessee in 1846. I wonder if I will owe anything and if they'll set me up on a payment plan? I've got excellent credit so maybe they'll give me a good interest rate. :biggrinjester:
