Washington Redskins to change name

#1

Post by striker55 »

For years they have been talking about changing the name. Now because of BLM it's going to happen. Also saw some people want the Texas Rangers to change the name. How about NY Yankees? Why not call all teams by a number? It's getting so ridiculous I can't see how we can survive between the virus and BLM?

I think it was the Washington Post, but one of the idiotic writers wrote that the Texas Rangers need to change theirs as well. Apparently the Texas Rangers back in the day were racist.

Weren’t the Vikings kind of a ruthless bunch back in the day seems they had no problem raping, pillaging and enslaving people. Isn’t Chief, a representative of a patriarchal dominance? The 49ers, were a group of men who set out to strip the California wilderness in search of gold. The Steelers were the men who took the fruits of resource destruction to make machines that further destroy the environment. Don’t even get me started on the Cowboys, how much more gender non-inclusive can that be?

This is fun.. I haven’t even looked into the colleges, Trojans, Lumberjacks, Midshipmen, etc, etc, etc

Can we petition for BLM to change it's name? The name is structurally racist and offends me :biggrinjester:

Seems the Texas Rangers are not immune from this madness.

I don't care what they do...all "professional" sports no longer care about their fans. All of them are virtue signalling political entities who believe that alienating their fans will make them richer.

NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR....all dead to me.

If you can't entertain me, which by the way is what you exist for, without pushing a political agenda on me then I have no use for you in my life. All of these former entertainment outlets only continue to exist because of the massive television money thrown at them. When the stands are empty, and people aren't watching on their screens, eventually advertisers are going to wonder why they are spending so much money for so little return.

Kansas City loves their Chiefs. The Native American in full feather regalia riding on a pinto horse "Warpaint" has been replace by a pretty blonde woman riding "Warpaint". The fans make a hatchet motion with their arms in the stands. Their symbol is a stone arrowhead.

And their name is Chiefs.

And there is discussions that they will be next to change their name.

Depending how far you want to go down the rabbit hole

This is a blog about working with Indigenous people.

Chief is a French derived word from meaning "leader". But in today's ban it culture, it won't matter.

My favorite is still the problem faced by fighter pilots with now female pilots. Is it still a cockpit?

I am told it is now a box office.

But the new gender neutral name is flight deck.

Having said that, the best suggestion I've seen yet (from Twitter) is the Washington Foreskins.
Being an ex-logterm Cowboy fan, that is what I called them, especially when John Riggins was in the backfield.
