TX: a good start discovered in Georgetown
Re: TX: a good start discovered in Georgetown
I read the "1,185 rounds of ammunition" part and was about to give my usual eye-roll about "arsenals"... Then saw it was 1,185 rounds of .50 cal, and it ain't .50 AE. Still doesn't qualify as a jaw-dropper, but almost 1,200 rounds of .50 BMG ain't nuthin' to sneeze at. That would leave a mark.philip964 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 8:06 pm https://www.kxan.com/news/local/william ... n-vehicle/
That’s a lot of plinking.
And enough to make our currently-put-upon police officers more than a bit nervous. Good thing they caught 'em in a traffic stop. If you show up to kick in a door you do not want a few M82A1s--or old M2s if they stole 'em somewhere--with 1,200 rounds of ammo waitin' for you...

Let’s not get bogged down in the details.

I'm sure they were headed to Home Depot to get some half-inch galvanized pipe and make some zip guns. Geez, am I getting old? Who remembers the term "zip gun"?

I, too, was wondering that very thing. Maybe it is still on backorder from amazon?
I remember zip guns.

Would the fact that the ammo is loose, rather than linked, tend to indicate that an M2 is not involved? Then again, that car trunk appears to be the back end of a Cadillac CTS, so I'm leaving my options open.....

Has anyone done the math on what the value of this ammo is? At anywhere from 3.50 to 7.00 per round, someone has either invested a lot of money or has stolen it and planned to make a lot of money.

Re: TX: a good start discovered in Georgetown
Has anyone realized that the amount of ammo is interesting but it is not illegal? It is not illegal even if the person is also carrying drugs. I am very curious about the fact that the Sheriff is making it sound like a big bust but the ammo is 100 percent legal to have and carry. I don't have 50BMG (wish I could afford it though) but I do have way more than 1200 rounds of ammo in my house, and in my car when I am going to the range.
I think this is part of an indoctrination being made that guns and ammo are bad. See drug dealers carry all this ammo around. What would an honest person need with all that ammo?

This is what I believe also. I think the same thing when they arrest someone and go on about how many guns they own. They are attempting to relate ammo and gun count with criminal intent. It is along the same lines as claiming nobody "NEEDS" a 30 round magazine or an AR15.srothstein wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 10:17 am Has anyone realized that the amount of ammo is interesting but it is not illegal?
