That is the active self protection guy. This video is from his "extra" channel.

Well, I have many years of experience with 1911's and they remain my favorite for two reasons.
1- I'm not a LEO and my 1911 is perfect for car jackers and home invaders.
2 - I'm old enough that my training has always been to fire twice and reassess. I simply refuse to spray and pray.

No offense to anyone, but the OP was annoying.

That explains why videos from the Active Self Protection channel started popping up in my Youtube feed.

I find this a little funny and i am no expert on any pistol and I have owned a few. never a 1911 45acp not that I do not think they are capable duty Pistols. The first semi auto i have any faith in is a Browning HP made in Bel. and assembled in Bel. I know its a 9mm. I do remember 2 old gents
who carried a 1911 in all kinds of conditions. They also carried and used a lot of Pistols. When they could the maybe use Revolvers. There are people
who today may be a little faster for show but when you life is on the line Nothing is certain a bank guard in OK City took a 45 round on his heart and his badge stopped the bullet and saved his life. Few will have the life of Bill Jordan and Col Chas Askins Jr.
I think Askins may have been the first to kill a man with a S&W 44 Mag. But killing is a bad deal and may we all avoid that.
The fastest thing I ever saw was a Mod 36 out of Bill Jordans hip pocket. "One of my friends said if you bat your eyes and die in Darkness"

The OP video had nothing to do about the pro/cons of a 1911, but was just a big product review, could have been about any gun. What a waste.

FWIW, I have a Colt M1911A1 built in WWII, and it eats everything I feed it, and it has never failed.

AndyC wrote: Fri Jul 03, 2020 6:13 pmWith that said, the 1911 (as much as I love it) isn't for most people; there are many other pistols out there which are better to serve those with short attention-spans, no mechanical ability/interest, infirmities of the wrists and the inability to shoot straight.
And as you well know, this is why I stopped carrying a 1911 myself—NOT because I disliked it and couldn’t shoot it, but because my wife disliked it and wasn’t comfortable with one. It was important to me that she be able to pick up my gun and fight with it if necessary if something happened to it, and she carries and is comfortable with Glock 9mms—specifically a G43 and a G19 which are hers. Therefore, I abandoned carrying my 1911, and began carrying a G19 (primarily). It was easier for me to adapt myself to the Glock's ergonomics than it was for her to get happy with the 1911's manual of arms and weight. And now that I’ve been carrying Glocks exclusively for a few years now, they no longer seem clunky or esthetically ugly to me, and I’m perfectly happy with carrying one. I still take my Springfield Loaded 1911 and my dad's old Ithaca 1911 to the range and enjoy shooting them, but I’m no longer interested in carrying one.

And of peripheral concern is this: if I am ever (God forbid) involved in a self defense shooting, it is probable that my gun would be confiscated by police......at least temporarily. In theory, it should be returned to me if the shooting is ruled justifiable and I’m either no-billed or acquitted. But I have very little confidence in the PD of any large metropolitan city doing the right thing and returning it to me expeditiously, without involving lawyers and threats. In the event that it was never returned to me at all, or that the cost of retaining an attorney to achieve its return was so high as to not make it a worthwhile endeavor, it would hurt my heart less if the gun in question were a Glock than a 1911. One is just a mechanical tool for self defense, the other is a mechanical piece of artwork with historical significance.

1911s make for far better BBQ guns than a Glock does, but I don’t think it’s necessarily a superior self defense gun than a Glock. Certainly, it’s no worse in the right hands, and in some hands it’s measurably better. But I fully agree with you that the 1911 isn’t for everyone, and my dear wife is proof of that. And that has nothing to do with whether or not it’s not suitable for women—just that it’s not suitable for some shooters.

He’s gotten very popular but I still don’t see him as an authority just because he’s viewed numerous shooting videos and comments on them. What in his background makes him a firearms guru? Is it all the firearms classes he’s taken?
Love him or hate him, Yeager has been on the two-way range. More than many can say.
True but there are different accounts on how well he did. I have run across people that really liked his training. Like I stated, I think there are better choices in “firearms experts” who actually have the background to back up their opinions.
