And, since no one has taught me how to DON and DOFF shoes without touching them ... because CDC says that the virus can travel on our shoes (without stating on the top, where particulat mist drops may fall, or the bottom of the shoe where we step in it0 I'm going to wear flip flops. We, my church, just had our annual communion Feet-Washing in March, so I'm good for another year.

I don't know if you are kidding or not but truth is, I had no idea of how to PROPERLY do it. We are having to wear masks and gloves in our customers homes. More to make them feel comfortable than to protect ourselves. We did not get masks because I bought the line early on that they were not needed. So now we are wearing "home made" cloth masks. Every time I get back out to my truck I find myself wondering if I just brought corona back outside with me. It makes me want to take off the gloves and throw them into the customers bushes.

To disinfect a mask, there are 3 approved ways (NOT talking about home made cloth masks where detergent and friction can destroy virus like in hand/MACHINE washing but the N95 or other respirator type maske

The UV-C light is NOT the old UV Blacklight poster purple light nor is it UVB suntan bulb light nor is it the UV-A buglight bug attracting UV light


CHECK THE NANOMETER WAVELENGTH before buying a "BUG ZAPPER/Blacklight Poster/Suntan" bulb that scammers advertise as a "UV Ultraviolet disinfectant bulb"
UV-C light is approved to decontaminate n95 masks (As are 2 other methods but NOT alcohol bleach etc) some places may have KN95 masks in stock if you cannot find any N95 masks if EMS or someone you know might need this info

The masks are almost identical in performance to the N95 masks that hospitals and other institutions are struggling to find.

P100 mask filters 99.7% and the "P" (instead of "N") means Petrol/oil vapor resistance, 3M makes pink ones that screw fit onto their respirator masks

N95 filters about 95% and the "N" instead of a "P" means NOT Petrol/NOT OIL vapor resistant

One more thought:
If you're using home made fabric masks
In Addition to washing them with detergent, Personally I would steam IRON them ...
notice that HEAT & Humidity method above actually requires 30 minutes of exposure at 60C (140F)-75C (167F)
But, an ironed, crisp freshly pressed shirt and mask may look more neat. ( I don't know LOL, but it couldn't hurt to steam iron a fabric after washing)

Touching the outer (contaminated) part of a filter, and not cleaning your hands right away, is unfortunately a very reliable way of contaminating yourself.

Similar with medical gloves. There's a right way to take them off. All other ways are wrong and doing it wrong can make wearing the gloves pointless. I wear gloves at the gas station, ATM, and picking up trash. Washing your hands is often a better answer.

Due to my level of patient contact in our hospital they will not issue me an N95 mask or even a level 3. I only get a level 1. Eh, whatever! We have a biohazard hood that we work under whenever we handle our covid specimens or any other respiratory specimens.
