I personally did not get it. My wife and I (she’s 23+ year military, still serving) work our butts off and pay thru the nostrils and heck, even a $5 check would have been nice.
But in grand scheme of things I consider us to be blessed enough and if it helps someone/economy, then so be it. It is out of my control anyways.
The only thing that sort of puzzles me is when folks who vehemently oppose anything that Government does and see everything that Government does with a huge skeptical eye are suddenly let’s say...happy?

I don't get one either but the government blows so much money on things that bother me more, this one just kind of rolled off my radar. I am sure the "never Trumpers" will send that money right back. Their dignity demands it.

The whole darned thing stinks to high heaven if you ask me. I fear it is only a harbinger of things to come. Now that this little test worked, what will the next excuse be and how far will the government go?
Much like MSNBC, you didn't check your facts. Medicare tax, plus both sides of the payroll tax (employee and employer) plus other related state taxes depending on your area of work could easily make it over 50%, even with deductions especially if you are in a low overhead field. Might be worth checking the facts next time before comparing someone to the news

Apparently you don't understand that the Medicare and Payroll taxes are an "income tax" (you pay them based on your income). If you haven't run your own business, this is understandable, as your employer was covering part of it. When you are self employed, you cover it all. Again, might be worth a fact check on your part before assuming you are right .
Back to the OP, if I got a stimulus check, I would be trying to spend it on the local businesses, even some of the restaurants if possible for take out. We have already had a couple close that stated they won't be coming back due to length of closure which is sad as they were all mom and pop places with good original food.
I own a business that has averaged 2 million a year in revenue for the past 25 years. I pay more in taxes every year than you likely earned for an income.

I cannot control the orders issued by some elected officials that I disagree with. In my opinion, they can advise and recommend all they want. And they would be prudent to offer advisories and recommendations to the public.
If a business wishes to shut its doors or limit physical proximity during the pandemic in order to reduce risk to their customers, I believe they should be free to do so.
I'm not a business owner. I have no means to protest what I personally believe are unconstitutional orders that force businesses to close their doors. The only means of protest I have is to decline/reject what I believe is an unconstitutional distribution from the public treasury. Unfortunately, I still am unable to get an answer on how to do that.

Flightmare, if you get an answer from anyone on how to decline the check, I (and I would assume others) would love to hear it. I wonder if its even possible, as even if you ripped up the check it would just be set aside for years as unclaimed funds until the government reabsorbed it (4 years for unclaimed federal income tax if this is similar) .

I have no need to play a measuring game with you over income, but if you are a business owner (of an AC business I assume based on your links), it seems you should have a much better understanding of how taxes work and which ones are "income" based. I do however, have a family full of accountants and small business owners, so I am pretty sure I know as much, or more for that matter, on the subject of taxes. If you pay less than half, I am happy for you. Not all of us run businesses with high overhead and tons of employees and lots of deductions.
The point was not to measure anything. The point was to let you know you are talking to someone who does know about taxes. The fact is. The top rate for income tax is at 37%. All the other taxes you are talking about are just that Other forms of taxes. The original conversation was about a progressive INCOME tax. Social security taxes are actually regressive in that at 137K, you pay no more.
