If they were to be on the same ticket, I believe they’d have to sacrifice the electoral vote from NY. That’d obviously be a nonstarter for a Dem win.

Re: Bloomberg
Not strictly correct, actually. The law says that the electors from their home state can't vote for both of them. So NY's electors in the electrical (heh heh) college could cast 29 votes for Bloomberg as President, but would have to cast 29 votes for someone besides Hilary else as VP. There's no law against them both winning the election, if Hilary gets enough votes from the other states. This would only make a difference in a very close election.Mike Bloomberg and Hillary Clinton could not run on the same ticket, as they are from the same State and the Constitution (remember that?) prevents it. Re: Bloomberg
You are correct. If it did happen that Bloomberg won the race with fewer than 299 electoral votes (270 to win plus NY 29), there would likely be no winner of the VP race. If that happened, it would go to the Senate. If a democrat wins POTUS, you can bet that they would pick up some seats in the senate. They have 47 right now. They don't necessarily need 51 seats. They can count on Romney for sure and maybe Collins of Maine to vote Hillary in.RSX11 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 2:48 pmNot strictly correct, actually. Of course, if Bloomberg won 299 or more electoral votes, Hillary could win VP outright without the NY electoral votes. Obama won 365 electoral votes in 2008 and 332 electoral votes in 2012. Trump won 306 electoral votes, although only 304 were cast for him. The 299 threshold does not seem too difficult to achieve.
Next we will discuss faithless electors and how they could make a royal mess of things.

Maybe it falls on us to educate others that Ka-Boomberg has to stand on a crate that used to hold 24 bottles of Dr. Pepper to feel like a contender! And as Marlon Brand said in the movie, On the Waterfront, "I used to be somebody, I used to be a contender!";-)

Re: Bloomberg
Rush is pointing out that Bloomberg is not a smart man. Not a dunce, of course. The automatic assumption that the extremely wealthy are extremely smart is not true. They found a gig, and exploited it. Same for Trump. I am guilty of using that argument, and that will stop now.
There is a level of skill that Trump has that indicates smarts, skill, and perception, and that is being in the construction business rubbing elbows with mobsters every day, and not getting sucked into that world. Many other similar examples, such as having relationships with world leaders long before he ran for president.
Recent evidence indicates Bloomberg may not be firmly grounded in the real world.

I have not received such a call but on of my friends have. He has got 2 such calls. One from a woman. The other from a man. He is not at all politically correct but to the woman he let her understand quick and plain he road the Trump Train and she was a fool.
When he got the one from the man --- well, he got a plainer ear full than the woman.

Re: Bloomberg
With regard to Prez & VP coming from the same state:
For a recent example, just remember when Bush Jr and Dick Cheney were both Texans?
Cheney quickly changed his official state of residence back to his home state of Wyoming.
It is easy to do when you are wealthy. The Clintons could easily tap the millions in their slush fund and move a very few miles into CT or NJ.
