Denton County Precinct 3 Government Center 30.06/30.07

Searched and couldn't find a thread so please forgive the ignorance if this has been addressed already.

I had to go to get handicap placards from the tax assessor's office in Lewisville. The offices had been moved into a spanking new Government Center. As I went in, and to the right, there are a pair of illegal signs for both 30.06 and 30.07 exclusions. I photographed them, posted on Texas3006.com.

I played phone roulette trying to get a POC fofiling a formal complaint. I ended up writing the sheriff.
Letter to Denton County wrote: Sir,
Please redirect this notification as necessary. I happened to have business in the new Precinct 3 Government Center, 400 N Valley Pkwy, Lewisville, TX, 75067.

The center is in violation of the Texas Government Code, Sec. 411.209. WRONGFUL EXCLUSION OF CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE HOLDER statute. The building has both a sign forbidding the carry of a weapon by a license holder as defined in TPC 30.06 and 30.07.

Please forward this information to the necessary parties to have the signage removed. I will check at the end of 3 business days (Friday 6/17). After that time I will be filing a complaint with the Texas Attorney General''s Office.

Thank You,
Dragonfighter
I'll check again Friday evening and if they are still there, I'll file with the OAG.

Is the Precinct 3 JP Court there? Maybe the Precinct 3 JP thinks the whole building is off limits... :???:

That's in Denton not Lewisville, but that is what I was thinking of. The Precinct 3 JP is Becky Herbow who is in the building DragonFighter is referencing.

Has anyone actually reported Denton County Precinct 3 Government Center to the AG? At least four of us have noted the signage but not sure if any have reported it. If not, I may make a project of figuring out all the agencies who occupy the building and their points of contact... and report each agency individually.

The county courthouse in Denton doesn't allow firearms either, even though there are other offices there that are not actual courts. I believe this is also a violation. After years of having my CHL/LTC, I'm just now starting to actively carry, so I've still a little "gun shy" on reporting/actively calling out things like this.
Best advice I was ever given- Don't mess with the dog while he's eatin'.

Denton Precinct 3 06/07 posting moved to the courtroom entrance. No signage downstairs now.

Lets count that one as a win, albeit a slow one.

Good. I’ve carried in there previously outside of the JP court. Nice to know they moved the signs.

I honestly don't believe that was an accident. Although, after spending 4 hours and 40 minutes in line for a drivers license renewal yesterday, I can see how they might be more comfortable with unarmed patrons.

My first couple of visits there I did not see the signs. I only became aware when I took my daughter for a driving test. They had us queue up for the test right under the giant signs. Why they chose to place the giant signs in the lobby where fully half the people walking into the lobby cannot see them is a mystery. It's almost as if they knew they were illegitimate.

I thought the driving test and licensing was at the state level at the DPS.

I was there yesterday, paying real estate taxes. No signs. I had just been a couple of places in Lewisville where I won't go unarmed and it was nice not to have to disarm in the parking lot for a change.

The building is shared by several entities.
