I was in the room today when they did that. Here is my review;

The Collin County Commissioners Court passed a resolution today. The video for the proceedings can be found at the following link;

The resolution itself is in this link;

This resolution should NOT be controversial. It is merely a reaffirmation of support for the 2nd amendment, and a reaffirmation to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and the State of Texas.

This is basically the same oath that all elected officials in the State of Texas take.
This is basically the same oath that all law enforcement in the State of Texas take.
This is basically the same oath that all attorneys take when they pass the Texas Bar.

And yet, there were many in the room speaking in opposition to the proposed resolution. One gentleman was wearing a familiar red t-shirt under his coat. Another woman wore a "March for our lives" t-shirt. More than one registered nurse. One of the people testifying in opposition, needed a deputy to be called to politely escort her back to her seat. She had a few outbursts when others were speaking and was very close to being thrown out.

While this resolution changed nothing to restore/regain our 2A rights, it is important to send a message to our elected officials in Austin and Washington to remind them that we will not tolerate those who would break their oaths. For those who watch the video, there were fewer people speaking in favor of the resolution than speaking in opposition. With primary season about to start, it is getting to the time where candidates are going to be out asking for support (both votes and financial). This is where we have the ability to have a civil conversation with our elected representatives (and candidates seeking those offices) about our concerns. I have already started doing that in my area, and I would encourage everyone else to do the same.

Judge Hill just posted on his facebook page that Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner, County Clerk Stacey Kemp, and Precinct 1 Constable Shane Williams have also signed the resolution.
