My father-in-law was a nose gunner in a B-24 out of England during the war. At Ellington Field one year, about 17 years ago, there was a B-24 on display. I took him to see it and the people treated him like royalty, the local news did an interview. They let us climb into the plane, it was pretty cool. The plane he flew on was "Little King".

My Dad was a Crew Chief on the B-17 before he moved over to training mechanics at Keesler in Biloxi, where the Tuskegee Airmen trained. He then moved down to Hondo, TX before being discharged. My Mom was a telephone operator on the base in Hondo.
