When she was a Houston City Councilwoman in 1993, she testified against the concealed-carry bill (
HB1776) during a committee hearing. (When testifying in a hearing, you are testifying under oath. Thus a lie is perjury.) During the hearing, I provided documents to Senator Jerry Patterson that proved she lied not once but twice. One was a letter from the Florida Dept. of Licensing that was faxed to me the previous day. Although I can't recall the exact content of the letter, it essentially stated that there had been no problems with licensees committing crimes, including murder. Senator Patterson used the letter to refute Lee's lie that a licensee had walked on to a city buss and started shooting people.
Her next lie was a claim that the majority of Texans didn't want concealed-carry. I handed Patterson that morning's Houston Post newspaper that had a CHL poll on the front page. Again, I can't recall the exact percentage, but the poll showed that over 70% of Texans wanted the concealed-carry bill to pass. Liar Lee stormed out of the hearing in a huff. She was later elected to Congress where she continues her trade.
(If you look up HB1776, read the as-filed version as well as the version that passed. We amended to be just a referindum as a trap for Gov. Ann Richards, the baby-killer's mother. She fell for it, vetoed the bill, then lost re-election in 1994.)
