Sent Email to Aguilar's News Director...

#46

Post by Stephen A. Camp »

Hello. I am not sure but I think that Ms. Barrs approves/disapproves what goes on the air.

I sent her this email today:

"Ms. Barrs,

The disgusting ambush of crime victim, Mr. James Walton, sickened my whole household. It would appear that many others feel the same way since public furor seems to have resulted in Ms. Aguilar being indefinitely suspended.

The biased “report should never have been aired. Mr. Aguilar’s judgmental “trigger happy comment was way out of line. If I understand correctly, Mr. Walton was in his own business (where he also lives) and the man shot was attempting a burglary. (If one is concerned about being shot, perhaps that person shouldn’t burglarize?)

Who allowed this to be shown and are they trying to push their own agenda rather than unbiased reporting of a news event? Does this fall under your responsibilities as news director?

This was simply wrong .

Beyond disgusting is the only way that I can describe it and my disdain for Aguilar’s “reporting and KDFW allowing it to be aired has caused me to go elsewhere for news as well as contacting Fox4News’ sponsors explaining why I will not use their products or visit their businesses.

If I want personal opinions, I read editorials.

Sincerely,
Stephen A. Camp"

As of this time, no reply.

This thing has gone nuclear, which is great. Drudge, Instapundit, Captain's Quarters, and a Michelle Malkin are highlighting it, so it's a national effort, not just Texas. I hope Mr. Walton realizes what's happening.

I'm sure their lawyers are screaming at them to reel in every known copy, because they realize this video puts them in an ..."awkward"... position if Mr. Walton sues.

I got to see the Youtube version this morning. It wasn't quite what was seen on the station's website. I doubt anyone had their DVR set to record the news (the usual way to get such a clean copy onto Youtube), so I suspect someone with access to the original material leaked a copy.

Newsrooms might be leftist, but techies are mostly libertarian, and geeks love guns.

I hope so too.

Here is his address:

Able Walton Machine & Welding

We should all "pitch in" $10.00 to help pay for his new shotgun. Send a letter of support along with your check.

His name is: James Walton.

My check will be in the mail this afternoon.

I'll be sending him a letter and donation tomorrow. Great idea.

Also if Fox doesn't say something soon we may need to get a list of their sponsors and express our displeasure.

I'm also keeping this stirred up on the Fox4 Blog site. It’s not dying down but the regulars on the site are getting a little tired of it and are trying to kill it. They haven't been successful.

They won't be saying anything.

Their viewer comments piece (Viewer's Voice), which previous ran every Friday during the 9pm show, has been suspended - likely indefinitely, just like Rebecca. Seems that FOX only likes positive feedback - not negative.

Yeah I saw that they wanted her reinstated. That doesn't matter to me. I'm not sure she should be fired. Just an apology to Mr. Walton and some sort of statement to the viewers would make me happy.

I bet the Anti-Reporters (which is most of them) will think twice next time.

Forcing someone to apologize is meaningless. Its not painful enough to be instructive. Punishments should be painful. She and the producers who decided to air this garbage need to pay a price. That is why our courts generally don't accept apologies, and make criminals do time, pay fines and do difficult parole and probation.
