have some business/personal travel coming up. Firced to change planes at O'hare airport on way to South Carolina.
The states I am going to be staying are reciprocal.
Any concerns about the plane change at O'hare? Thinkng NY or DC laws.

Don't pick up checked baggage if you have an unscheduled layover... as long as you bag is checked, you aren't in possession of a weapon in Chicago.

Wait a minute! I despise the politics of my birth city, but Chicago is not NY/NJ and no one asks for my permit. I have flown to Chicago and back a number of times with my gun(s). Even though I have a Illinois non-resident permit, it is not like NY/NJ. First, when I check into my flight at O'Hare, I ask for a declaration form. This does NOT trigger a call to the police. Second, I fill out my portion of the orange form. Three, I am escorted to a TSA station behind the counter while TSA checks my bag. Last, I get the thumbs up and I go to my gate. EZ PeeZee.

Just follow the rules the TSA and your airline's rules.

Travel safe.

This is good to know. But also be ready for individual TSA agents to not be well informed, and possibly biased. Should just be an inconvenience, though.

I was once questioned by a TSA agent because I was carrying what he thought to be a large sum of cash ($20,000 or so). He noticed the bulge in my pocket and asked what it was after I had gone through the metal detector. I explained that it was just cash, not anything dangerous, and showed it to him. He then demanded to know how much cash I was "declaring". Since he wasn't a customs agent, and more importantly, I wasn't flying out of the U.S., this was obviously an unnecessary question. After a few minutes, I was lucky enough to have his supervisor come over to explain the law (and his job) to him.
