I would be interested to see if anyone gets a response. So far, nothing on my end.

I thought it was funny that this morning on Fox4 they showed an interview with former Dallas DA Barry Sorrels. The topic of discussion was the castle law recently passed in Texas.

Quote from the wide-eyed reporter: ""Boy, we are seeing property owners very much use this law, very much to their advantage", but his body language seemed to me that he was very much uncomfortable.

Follow the video link in this blog post, and you should still be able to see the video.

Response or not, I would encourage everyone who hasn't already to send emails to KDFW FOX 4, Fox Corporate, etc. in defense of the victim and in condemnation of Ms. Aguilar. Sending email directly to her (rebecca.aguilar@foxtv.com) is recommended as well. However, as with all things, please remain POLITE and RESPECTFUL - despite the fact that this woman has committed a rather large injustice. Flying off the handle only serves to reinforce the view of all gun owners (especially CHLers) as a bunch of hicks who foam at the mouth at the opportunity to pull out their hawg-leg and shoot someone with it.

There's another thread here that has additional info, and contact info:

GOOD FOR THEM!!! She deserves to be fired, not just suspended. At least the community input was listened to.

EDIT: I think the award went to her head and she thought she was going to really make a name for herself. Looks like she succeeded!

What about the rest of the "team" that let this on the air? The production staff and all that...

Even though Fox4 took the video off their website, it has been immortalized on YouTube.

Walton: I'm not satisfied about the situation right now....
Aguilar: About killing two people?
Walton:... about you coming out here. About killing two people? Hell no. That's not good. I haven't done anything like that in my whole life. Even when I was in the Army I was never exposed to that.

Aguilar: Are you a trigger happy kind of person? Is that what you want to do... shoot... to kill?
Walton: I haven't shot anyone in 45 years.

Argh!!!

To quote DoubleJ, "Oh, sweet irony"!!!

I think another reporter needs to follow her around town and badger her.

That doesn't let the production people off the hook for letting the episode on the air, though. More heads need to roll!

Unfair Park has confirmed that Aguilar -- who was just named one of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists' Broadcast Journalists of the Year -- has been indefinitely suspended, based on concerns about how Aguilar treated Walton.

Where I work indefinitely suspended means fired, sometimes the chickens do come home to roost.

Eh, slight translation difference.

"Indefinitely suspended" means she has some time to consider her misdeeds while the lawyers peruse everything. Then, she will leave the station on supposedly amenable terms to "pursue other interests", her leaving having absolutely nothing to do with the story.

Wow.

I just hope a lesson has been learned, other than throwing the most prominent person off the boat.
