IL: Chicago CCL holder kills armed robber on street

The incident was captured by surveillance video. The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was waiting for her bus when a 19-year-old man attempts to rob her at gunpoint.

The woman, who has a conceal carry license, was armed as well. Surveillance video shows as they struggle, she pulled out her gun and shot him in the neck.

The suspect took off running down the street and she ran in the opposite direction. Police found him and transported him to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Area residents quoted in article as saying, basically, "you go girl!"

Thankfully this law abiding citizen was able to be legally armed and defend herself! Bravo! If the dimocrats had their way, she would have been defenseless. I for one am glad that scumbag punk won't stick a gun in anyone else's face.

I also have an IL CCL. The CCLers have figured out a work around since IL honors the federal "transport" provisions. They carry a small lockable container in their bag or backpack, and lock up the gun when going to prohibited places, such as public transportation. I don't know what this particular woman was doing, but kudos to her.

The deceased robber was out of jail for a whole two months before he decided to try to mug the wrong gal.

The teen had a record of arrests, mostly for drug charges. But last June, he was charged with attacking a sergeant and a police officer after he and his father were arrested during a narcotics raid in Englewood where the father lived, according to court records.

[...] As police escorted the younger Goings downstairs, he became “very irate, stiffened up’’ and “pushed”’ and “grabbed’’ a sergeant, the report said. Another officer got him under control and into a police car.

Goings was charged with six counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer...

....but they were dropped in October after the teen pleaded guilty to a drug charge. He was given probation and released from jail in early November, just days before his 19th birthday.

Is the bus stop considered to be part of the public transportation? I'm picturing a stop with some type of enclosure, bench, etc. Obviously, if the stop is just a sign on a pole, it would be hard to walk down the sidewalk without being "at" a bus stop at some point during your walk.
