Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?
There have been people near me reporting on Nextdoor about signs being stolen or damaged. Both Cruz and Beto signs have been affected. I don't dispute that there are people on the fringe of both sides both capable and willing to do this. If you disagree with a candidate a person is supporting, show support for their opponent or another candidate you support by placing a sign in your yard. It shouldn't be that hard to understand. The signs are private property and should be treated as such. I know I'm preaching to the choir here though. <end rant>

"The state statute says it is illegal to “steal, willfully deface, mutilate or destroy any campaign yard sign on private property.” The crime is punishable by a fine up to $2,500, up to a year in jail or a combination of both."
I think that the politicians have made their signs more valuable that say a "for sale" sign, at least I believe that to be the case. In any event, don't do it. In my area there seems to be no end to sign violations. Signs too close to the curb, etc. Nothing is done of course.

In all that time I've never seen him in anyway pretend to be anything other than what he is and he's in fact reminded votes constantly throughout of exactly who and what he is.

This, and be activist by reminding everyone you even think might lean right in any way to get to the polls.Flightmare wrote: ↑Mon Oct 22, 2018 1:05 pm I would argue that none of us should be complacent. Cruz may win by a large margin, but that is hardly guaranteed. Vote, and make your voice heard!
This is the first time since I began voting I hit the polls in the first hour they opened.
This is one of these years where every vote counts and the stakes are increcibly high.
If republican't don't gain seats in the senate, and especially if they should lose the house the next two years are goig to be rough.
Trump hasn't got a principled bone anywhere in his body so he'll do whatever it takes to leave office a success even if it requires throwing everyone who supported him thus far under the bus to accomplish it.
More than him needing our support, the only way we can control him is the expand the lead in the senate and keep control of the house.
There's probably a better than 90% chance of at least one, if not two more supreme court appointments coming in the next two years. Ginsburg looks like walking death and at least one more is well over eighty and considering retirement.
If Trump gets even one more of these and a Republican Senate is still there for the confirmation this nation is going to swing back right further than we've seen in our lifetimes and it will last for probabl two generations.
I get tired of hearing Hannity tell us that "this year is the most important election of our lifetimes" but in truth this one very well may be.

You mean like this one on NRA TV that’s in its 7th season?

Guns aren't political. They're the symbolic representation of your right to live. It should scare all of us that we live in a country where something so critical is a taboo topic. I'm tired of the political correctness and dishonesty that have become so common in any conversation about guns. If we can't get past our own discomfort and talk about our freedom, we’re doomed to lose it. On NOIR, I'm doing my part: challenging everyone, whether you're pro, anti or indifferent, to push past the politics and talk about this freedom on real terms.
And of course, it wouldn't be my show if I wasn't shooting some cool guns in the process.

No I mean like on a network where he isn't just preaching to the choir. Give than man a real audience and I believe he could be highly effective at converting the doubters. Afterall he was for most of his life one of them. That gives him a unique understanging of how they think and of how to speak to them.bblhd672 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 6:46 amYou mean like this one on NRA TV that’s in its 7th season?

Which network where he wouldn’t be preaching to the choir, one other than Fox News, do you think would offer him a show to speak truth to their audience?WildRose wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 6:52 am No I mean like on a network where he isn't just preaching to the choir. It’s a great idea, just not going to happen. Colion and the rest of us are forced to change minds one at a time because of the progressive socialists who control the networks.

This is where I first heard of Ted Cruz. He helped save a World War I Cross in the Mojave desert acting as a lawyer for the VFW against Obama and the ACLU.WildRose wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 3:10 amI've followed Cruz since his earliest days in politics and honestly long before while he was still a career Lawyer.Soccerdad1995 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 2:21 pmOr as I like to sum it up, we have an Irishman pretending to be Hispanic running against a Latino who is pretending to be white.

Funny thing. I am as white as one can get and the race of a candidate never even enters my mind. I vote for the candidate who best represents my concerns. But I hear minorities often admitting to placing a vote for the person who best fits their race. If I did this it would be called racist. They do this and it is acceptable reasoning. Why is this OK? DemoRats appear to be most responsible for this identity politics. Will it ever end?

Not meaning to derail the topic, but it seems that some isms (Racism, Sexism, Ageism come to mind) come with a double standard built in -- at least for folks with little character, who often appear leading the chants against others. I recall something from scripture admonishing those who'd cast the first stone... A person of any color may be racist against people of any color. Even so and inconveniently so in cases you won't see publicized much, racism of any kind is wrong, full stop.Funny thing. Back to the topic at hand, Cruz' epic photo picking up Shiner Bock at a Buccee's stop yesterday has gotten some pretty good publicity returns, particularly in relation to Robert O's "cool kid" attempts.

In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

THE RISE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
By: Angelo M. Codevilla
That’s just one paragraph from a long and brilliant article on the subject of political correctness; and explains why we are, in the long term, doomed. They will have their revolution, sooner or later, and lately, it’s looking like sooner. What serves progressive revolutionaries’ interests is not in doubt. Although each of progressivism’s branches differs in how it defines society’s “structural” fault, in its own name for the human reality that it seeks to overcome, and in the means by which to achieve its ends, progressives from the 19th century to our time are well nigh identical in their personal predilections—in what and whom they hate even more than in what they love. They see the culture of what Marxists call “bourgeois morality” as the negation of their identity and authority. That identity, their identity, is to be promoted, endlessly, by endless warfare against that culture. That is why the cultural campaigns of otherwise dissimilar progressives have been so similar. Leninist Russia no less than various Western democrats have tried to eradicate religion, to make it difficult for men, women, and children to exist as families, and to demand that their subjects join them in celebrating the new order that reflects their identity. Note well: cultural warfare’s substantive goal is less important than the affirmation of the warriors’ own identity. This is what explains the animus with which progressives have waged their culture wars.
