What's the FBI going to assume when PhD. Ford makes a statement that says it happened, and Kavanaugh as well as a host of others makes statements that it didn't? There's no evidence that anything happened. How can there be a legitimate outcome of an investigation other than "inconclusive, no evidence for or against"? Is the FBI about to go "Oops, we missed this on the previous 4 or 5 background investigations we've done on Judge Kavanaugh. Our bad."?ScottDLS wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 3:46 pm I assume the FBI will now question Dr Ford and heaven forbid she get a detail wrong about anything, even if it has nothing to do with the investigation. Then I'm sure they'll be charging her with a Felony a la Flynn...right? I mean that's why we're having the delay, right to see if we can charge her with perjury. Flawed memory or PTSD is no excuse. I assume if the Feds think she's lying they'll hand it over to the US Attorney for prosecution, right? On the other hand they have no jurisdiction over sex crimes in Maryland from 1982, so I assume they'll be passing that off to the Montgomery County (MD) DA. Of course, we're not even sure he has jurisdiction, since the crime can't be credibly placed in time or in the County.
Per the senators of both parties during the committee vote, the scope was limited to only the three extant accusers: Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick. If Democrats try to expand that scope (I have no doubt they’ll try), that would be a violation of the agreement THEY demanded. If they do try to expand the scope, I imagine that Mitch McConnell will cut to the chase and schedule the floor vote on confirmation - blowing through the democrat obstructionism.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 2:06 pm Not just that but what scope is the "investigation" to take? Investigate just the "Ford" accusations or investigate all the accusations, even the ridiculous ones.
Assuming the supplemental background check comes back with nothing, this gives Collins, Murkowski, and possibly some democrats in states that Trump won cover to vote yes. But, a late afternoon headline in a northwest Indiana newspaper shines a glimmer of a doubt on Senator Donnelly’s commitment to a no vote. He told the newspaper’s editorial board that now he’s willing to wait for the FBI’s report before making a final decision. In other words, Donnelly has moved from a no vote to a maybe.
