A vicious knee to the groin and a gouge to the eyes will dissuade 99,999999% then deploy the knife where it counts.

A few simple principles can greatly reduce the risk of being disarmed during defense with a knife:Jusme wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 5:52 pmThe Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 5:41 pmThey say the same things about handguns...so why bother carry anything?cyphertext wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 5:36 pm Is your daughter a ninja or trained knife fighter? If not, the chances of it getting taken away from her and used against her are higher...
My daughter, is not a "trained" knife fighter, I have shown her a few things, I know (which is far from professional) mostly about protecting the knife, and not just stabbing blindly. I demonstrated, (using a plastic butter knife) how she could use, it on someone who grabbed her from behind. Like cutting his hands, and arms, to stabbing him in the thigh, groin, or even the eyes, and face. I like the neck knife because it can be deployed with either hand, and is ready to use, without having to open it.
I would prefer, that she be able to carry, her handgun, but anything is better than nothing. JMHO
- Do not expose it until actually striking
- Strike with speed, power, and fully determined commitment
- Like with a handgun, continue striking until the threat is ended

Agree... but most teenagers are in condition white, more preoccupied with what is going on in their phone than their surroundings. Simply having a knife does not change this...Interblog wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 7:04 am
There are no guarantees in life, but self-defense is absolutely not limited to being a strictly mechanical process. It's not about the mechanics of "can she use a knife successfully in a fight". It's about the whole package of the woman and how she presents, and the signals she gives off to the rest of the world. An armed woman gives off stronger, more assertive signals. People are not stupid and are less likely to mess with a strong young woman.

This! And yes, a smaller, slighter, person could be a a disadvantage facing a full grown animal with bad intent. But most of these jerks are not prepared to have to try and control someone that has suddenly turned into the tasmanian devil. Don't just teach the basic stab locations or pepperspray deploy - show them how to cut tendons, gouge eyes, tear off ears, heck - even use that spray can as a battering tool. You are fighting for your life - there are no rules and no limitations.montgomery wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 8:11 amHeaven forbid your children be placed in a position where they have to fight for their lives, but without proper training and the requisite mindset to get violent fast themselves, they will realize at the worst and final moments of their live that they had no plan, no strategy, no tactic, no skill, and no desire to fight like a rabid savage to survive. Instead, they are armed with what will kill them: the tool the parent purchased with zero regard for training.

They do make a gel which is more directional. I would recommend carrying some of the antidote whips for your self. Also, if you carry a knife around you neck, be prepared to cut it’s cord as as BG could exert a lot of control over a person by essentially dragging a person around by the neck.

The only way to win (survive) a violent encounter against seemingly disproportionately greater force is rapid commitment to violence of action.
And you are right - putting anything around one's neck that can be used to choke or strangle or restrain themselves, especially 550 paracord attached to a kydex holster holding a karambit they don't know how to use aids the enemy.

The better neck knife producers realize this risk. Mine has a thin ball chain similar to the keeper that holds the plug from escaping from the bathroom sink. It would separate readily if needed.montgomery wrote: ↑Mon Sep 24, 2018 12:43 pm ..............
