Some of you may or may not agree but here's the background then what happened.
At work we are taking a more aggressive stance on hot check writers. We already work closely with the County Attorney's office, and are aware of who has a warrant due to a hot check we have turned over to the CA's office.
Some months ago I warned an individual that he had hot checks with us at the CA's office dating back to Nov/Dec, and he needed to get them cleared up. Today he comes into the store and attempts to cash a payroll check.
I give him the usual instructions (go ahead and get your products and then we will cash it when you are ready to check out). Upon him starting to shop I dial the Sheriff's Office and inform them we have him in the store, who he is, that he has a warrant, and what the warrant was issued for. This allows them to quickly verify the warrant. Their response time was far from rapid (20+ minute response time) but eventually they (Constable and Sheriff's Deputy) show up as I am starting to run out of delay tactics, He is escorted outside, questioned, and arrested on the warrant.
How well do I know everyone involved? The wife of the dispatcher I spoke to used to work for us. He and I are good friends and he drools over my 1911s. The Deputy that responded used to go to church with me, back when we were in the youth group togather. The Constable and I often argue Glock Vs 1911 (I explain to him that his 1911 needs better mags and/or mag springs). The subject of the warrant is also a former employee and lives less than a mile from my house.

I agree with what you did. You were able to facilitate capturing a criminal.G.A. Heath wrote:Some of you may or may not agree but here's the background then what happened.
Either this is a lot of coincidence, or you live in a very small town.

Have to agree as well. The law is the law, and as a CHL holder we hold ourselves to a higher standard.

I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

Its a relatively small town, and I do make it a point to know my local law enforcement.Lumberjack98 wrote:Either this is a lot of coincidence, or you live in a very small town.

You didn't cause anything...you responded properly, you knew he had warrants and reacted such
There are tons of people who have warrants out, as long as they are minor they get a chance to take care of them once and for all
