I would guess that you are referring to attorney-client privilege by your statement. Such privilege for attorneys and their client is much more restrictive than for a priest, but when the parties waive that privilege, then none exists. In this case Trump waived whatever privilege may have existed otherwise.

If you sell an American car in Europe you pay a 25% Tarriff. If you sell a European car in America you pay a 10% Tarriff. Does that seem fair? Trump is proposing no tarriffs for cars worldwide. To get Europe’s attention he has proposed a 25% Tarriff on European cars.

In addition a German car costs a lot more in Germany than it does in the US. That maybe called dumping.

Maybe Congress should pass a law stating import tariffs will be calculated every quarter based on the prior four quarters. The US tariff on imports from a country will be the same on all goods from that country, and equal to the highest rate that country charged on any US imports in the previous four quarters. Goes into effect 1/1/2019.

I'm sure that foreign powers would support that, especially in light of the fact that the US charges a 2.5% duty on imported cars, but charges a 25% levy on trucks imported into the US (and has since the 60's). They could use our own laws to rationalize higher tariffs in their own country. Tariffs are not a viable solution, and their unintended consequences are well known "If you are an actual business leader, and not a real estate speculator pretending to be one"
