Help me spend my money!
Okay I am going to buy a 1911 in the next few days. I have a budget of 800-1000. I have looked at Springfield, Colt, Ruger, and Sig. I’ve narrowed it down to Springfield, Colt, and Sig. I want a full size 5” model. I like the Colt government competition, the Sig 1911 XO or nitron, and I’m not sure about any of the Springfield’s. Primary usage will be BBQ gun but I do intend on carrying it sometimes. Series 70 or series 80 doesn’t make a huge difference to me I just want one that will work and be reliable. I prefer the Novaks style sights. Grips will get replaced on any I get to something else. Features I must have are extended beaver tail, skeletonized hammer, and 7 and 8 round compatible and made in the USA. Gonna be an heirloom gun for sure.

Springfield TRP and check out Buds for a price.
Then I will make you a deal on these grips.

Nice STI 1911 is always an option. Made not just in US, made in Texas!!

Have to get an old or used model. They only make 2011's now and one 1911 specifically geared to competition.

True but the engraved shape of Texas on the side makes up for it.
If it’s has to be new and right at that budget, a TRP is hard to beat.
I like TRPs but if you can save a couple more pennies another I’d recommend is a Dan Wesson. Pick your flavor of commander govt or carry, rail or no rail, etc, Valor being my favorite. if you’re ok with used then you can find a good deal.

I am more than okay with a used gun but it has to be I. Great shape and reliable....

Do you really have those grips!?
Chas.
Re: Help me spend my money!
Yes sir. All of full size 1911’s are bobbed now so I can’t make it to a BBQ with these anymore. They are just collecting dust.

Are you sure about Ruger? SR1911 is at the low end of your price range and is an excellent gun.

Re: Help me spend my money!
I have not seen a new TRP for $1000 even on buds... but it's a great gun.
There are lots of STI's to be had (again, they are usually north of $1000) they just quit making the 1911's so there is a lot of stock still in the retailers.
I think both can be found lightly used for $1k.
I wish I had this problem!

Re: Help me spend my money!
I just did a quick gunbroker search and you can get a few for $1k or less. Some new and one of them being my favorite, The Trojan. I've been a good boy for over a year and haven't spent my allowance or bought a gun in that length of time. Too bad I have bigger plans for my saved up cash or I might have to jump on one.

I actually am considering the Ruger again. I found one for a good deal new and I think I’m gonna go that route again! I have heard they worked the bugs out and people love em. Plus it’s a Ruger....

You should be able to get a Springfield Range Officer in your price range. They are nice for the money. For some reason I like the blued with wood gripped 1911's. I'm not sure if they fit BBQ gun criteria though.
