Semi Auto Shotgun Suggestion

Can you guys help me pick my first semi auto shotgun for waterfowl hunting? I put a list of my top 3 below but I am open to suggestions. Unfortunately I only have a budget of $650.00. I wouldn’t want to spend more than that on my first semi auto. Thanks for the help!

I don’t have any experience with Weatherbee but I do however have extensive experience with beretta. I have been waterfowl hunting my entire life and the two guns I go back and forth from depending on the situation is the Remington 870 and Beretta A390. You won’t be disappointed with the beretta. However like benelli and a few others customer service from beretta is basically non existent so take that for what you will. My

I suggest that you go to your LGS or Cabela's and handle each one... bring it to your shoulder and see how it feels. See how your head lines up naturally... are you looking along the barrel or looking down at the barrel? Each one will feel different. Pick the one that feels the best. The best for me may not be the best for you.

Now for my vote... you can get the Beretta in a camo pattern as well, so don't let that be the deciding factor. I purchased an A300 Outlander for my son and went back a few weeks later and bought one with wood furniture for myself! Great gun.

I'm going to vote for the A300. Save up some $$ in a few months and then check your area for hydro dipping services. Bob's your uncle, your black A300 will sport whatever pattern you like.

Or, get very brave and rattle can it.

Nothing wrong with the other two options though.

If you want save max $$, stay out of the box stores and order it online, out of state, w/ free shipping and no taxes. Minimal transfer fee w/ your favorite FFL and come out ahead.

I don’t really have any knowledge of the ones on your list, but I do own a Benelli Silver Black Eagle II, and it has been mostly problem free. The only issue I’ve had with it is that it sometimes tries to feed two shells simultaneously from the magazine, causing a jam above the lifter consisting of two shells stuck there, end to end. It only seems to do this with 2-3/4” shells in #7-1/2 or #8 birdshot/practice loads. I think those 2-3/4” light loads just don’t have enough grunt to cycle the action with authority. I have been told that this is not uncommon with SBE II’s, and that the solution is to use 3” shells.

Other than that, with proper ammo it runs very smoothly and it’s built like a bank vault. I have also considered the Mossberg 930 series of seamiauto shotguns.

Make sure you read up on and check out the Remington V3.

I really appreciate everyone’s input. I think the Beretta A300 Outlander is the right choice for the dollar amount.
