Winchester 94 Question

#1

Post by JLaw »

I just traded an old worn out Uberti .44 Mag for a LNIB Winchester 94 Trapper 30-30 lever action. I have no earthly idea how to strip down the reciever area to clean and lube. Does anyone know of a link to some magic site containing this disassembly/reassembly, or am I stuck shelling out some $ for a video of this procedure?

I've got one that was given to me by my step-father and it was in really rough shape when I got it. I found the info online, but can't remember exactly where I got the disassembly info from. Try http://leverguns.com. If you don't find what you need there, I will see if I still have the info on my home computer tonight.

That's going on the new resource page, so I guess I'd better get it set up!

Thanks,

Please detail your restoration procedures. My Dad's 94 is in exactly the same shape are your "before" photo.

Thanks,
Chas.

I know that this thread has been pretty much set aside (and perhaps forgotten), but I, too, am interested in ghentry's restoration techniques used on his 94.

Did anything more about it get posted? Perhaps in another thread?

I refinished my Remington Model 11 16 Ga. stock and foregrip years back (a little Homer Formsby's and some Tung Oil did a great job), and the blueing (well, it's actually brown) and other metal parts were always in good shape, so I didn't have to do anything with them. But, I have two old .22's that someone gave me (literally in pieces) that need a total rebuild/refinish, and would make for great "practice" on something I think I would really enjoy doing (and is why I accepted them in the first place).

Thanks!

I was told by someone at the Conroe gun show that Winchester has been sold and will cease firearm production at the end of March. Is this true? Anyone know anything more about this?

True. March American Hunter has an article on it. Probably others in the last 2 months also covered it.
