A good western rig

A good western rig
I'm needing suggestions for a good rig to carry my Ruger vaquero. I'd like the old western style with the bullet loops and for the holster to have a leather hammer thong to keep it in the holster when I'm on the four wheeler or tractor. This will be my ranch rig and huntin rig. I know a good fitting holster should have plenty of retention but I'd like the thong just in case. Anybody point me in the right direction?

Their stuff does look very good. It's a bit pricey I will say!

I'm guessing you haven't shopped a lot of good western rigs... even the inexpensive ones, aren't!cmgee67 wrote:Their stuff does look very good. It's a bit pricey I will say!

Just check the Western & Field Rigs prices here, and then you'll feel like all the others are cheap!

Agreed. My grandfather used to shoot SASS cowboy action. Several of his rigs cost more than some of his guns.flechero wrote:I'm guessing you haven't shopped a lot of good western rigs... even the inexpensive ones, aren't!cmgee67 wrote:Their stuff does look very good. It's a bit pricey I will say!

If you are not tryimg to break the bank and just want a utilitarian rig and can exercise a little patience try Ebay. Lots of Hunter Leather rigs in western style straight belt and buscadero style. You can often find other brands, ie George Lawrence and Eubanks (both vintage), El Paso, etc. Also, Here's a site for Triple K factory blems.

It's just gonna be a utilitarian rig. I may go with the diamond d's chest rig also. I'll spend 200 but that's max

I also highly recommend El Paso, I have their Doc Holliday shoulder holster. But also check out sites that cater to cowboy SASS costumes, like Wild West Mercantile, and Western Emporium.

I know it.... single action revolvers and western garb are my cup of tea. I like a good Single action over any modern handgun any day.
Re: A good western rig
Went to a gun show and El Paso saddlery was there and I ended up walking out with a holster and belt. Y'all were right their stuff is nice! Got a good price because I bought both belt and holster. This forum makes me spend money...
