Girl Shoots Boyfriend To Death In YouTube Stunt

On Monday night, a 19-year-old Minnesota woman was arrested for shooting her boyfriend to death as part of a YouTube stunt for her blog.

The criminal complaint in the case states that Monilisa Perez, who is pregnant, told police that her boyfriend, Pedro Ruiz, 22, wanted to make a YouTube video of her shooting a book while he was holding it; Ruiz thought the bullet would be stopped by the book. Ruiz had set up a GoPro camera and another camera to record the shooting.
The gun was a .50 caliber Desert Eagle, fired from 1 ft away. It went clean through the book and killed the man holding it. He wanted to be famous. The irony abounds.
“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”

Unless that book had a solid steel plate inside it, I am going to say that no one can be this stupid. She should have claimed that she thought the gun was unloaded.

Some of the comments are funny. My favorite:
Answers the age old question of "why don't they build body armor out of books?"

What's even sadder is that they have reproduced. I hope the kids don't inherit the stupidity gene.

Got enough money to buy a Desert Eagle but not enough to buy common sense.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Or as I like to say. There are days when it is easy to see why humans are on the top of the food chain. And then there are days when you read stories like this one.

Depends on the book I guess. Get enough paper and you can stop a bullet. Though I'm not going to volunteer to hold them to find out which ones.

A bound copy of Obama Care might be thick enough to stop it.
