The last 2 shows in Lubbock we not posted. First one was at the fairgrounds and there were no signs at the door about no carrying of firearms or zip tying them. They were zip tying guns being brought in openly though.
The second show was at the city owned civic center. It was not posted 30.06 but did have a sign that all guns were to be unloaded and zip tied. They had a Lubbock cop at the desk zip tying guns but he was not asking if anyone was carrying concealed. Both times I carried inside. At the second one I saw several people I knew and they were all carrying. I asked some of the vendors that I had bought from why we couldn't carry inside and most of them said they were. I didn't tell them I was carrying. I took it to mean the guns that were coming in openly were to be zip tied not CHL's. They are having another show next weekend at the civic center and if it's not posted 30.06 I plan on carrying again.

When I got back to the car and reloaded, I forgot to put the mag back in the well after loading my "Barney Fife" in it. Carried into Cabela's, bought a locking case for the car, carried into Sportsman's Warehouse looking for ammo and only noticed that I didn't have the mag in the gun when I got home. Man am I glad I didn't need it!
That is exactly why I hate disarming in the vehicle.

When entering a gun show with a compliant PC30.06 posting, I observe it. (There was one time I arrived at a show which had no sign posted when I entered . . . but sometime afterward, before I left . . . the sign went up. Could have been sticky . . . )

If there's some sort of non-PC30.06 compliant sign, I ignore it like all such signs and carry concealed. (I do NOT break concealment to try a new holster, play "look at mine" or anything else of the sort.)

I have never been asked by an LEO at the door or elsewhere in the show whether or not I had a firearm. I would not lie about this to a sworn peace officer, even if he was working security at a private function.

I think the point they were trying to make is that there is no such thing as a "compliant" 30.06 sign at a city owned facility.

I do not remember the details but I recall in the last year, someone shoot themself at the GRB show. Not fatally. He was not an LEO and I am not sure if he was a CHL holder. One thing for certain, he had ammo and his fiearm was not zip tied inside the show.

Yeas he was a CHL holder, put a round through his hand if I remember correctly. Seems like I heard all charges were dropped after a month or so.
