Like most motorheads, I'm a subscriber to the theory of "If 'some' is good, and 'more' is better, then 'too much' might be just enough". Up until the point it conflicts with the above. Use the most that you can DELIVER accurately/efficiently.

I would rather have 8+1 of .45 over 15+1 of 9mm

I prefer to not run out of ammo, when you really really need it.

I guess I am a heretic. I carry a .38 Police Posotive, almost never any reloads. I like the simplicity, light weight and accuracy.

I carried an M1911A1 (7 + 1) on active duty. Now I enjoy my M&P (17 + 1). Capacity helps me stay in the fight.

Oh, drat. I've been happy for weeks, carrying my P250 DAO Sig subcompact. 12+1 plus a 17 round spare mag in a thoroughly safe package.

Now, after reading this, I'll probably be back to my roots tomorrow.

Carrying a 1911 is hard to describe. Part scalpel, part thunder, part bond to do my duty, on my honor.

Cocked and locked single action is in my soul. I like my Sigs but I wouldn't have it any other way.

If the fight is with a amped up whacked out BG I would rather have a .45 than 9mm

There are trade-offs for each. Higher capacity allows more shots; whether it is multiple attackers, or missed shots. Larger caliber does have more "force", assuming you hit your mark. At the end of the day, each of us gets to make the call on which we decide.
