They will just get mad. The owner seems to be pretty ignorant of the entire issue, and the fact that he can't understand the complete disconnect involved in posting a 30.06 and then "allowing" entry if you show a license is very telling. 30.06 signs only restrict LTC holders from entering, but you are OK with them entering (armed) if they show you a license? That type of "logic" would make the most liberal gun grabber proud.

There once was a guy who built a great range facility in Katy, complete with state of the art simulators, a very nice retail area, etc. He then decided to vigorously call for restrictions on the online sale of ammunition. That great facility is now owned by Boyert Shooting Center after the original owner went bankrupt. Offending your target market is an interesting, and generally unsuccessful, business strategy.

Boyert is great, by the way. Cops shoot free, friendly people who act like they are happy to see you, great membership plans if you shoot a lot, two locations that are perfect for anyone who works in Houston and lives in Katy (which is a fair amount of folks here), great events involving free cigars, food/drinks, and giveaways, very friendly owner, etc. Oh, and they allow OC and CC (of course).

From their Facebook page today..

"We have been questioned multiple times about our status of having both 30.06 and 30.07 signs posted outside of our store. That is correct. This is meant for the protection of our staff and surrounding businesses. If you have an LTC, it is required that you show the identification to the camera outside of the entrance and then you will be allowed into the store with your firearm. We apologize if this aggravates potential and current customers, but again, it is for the safety of our staff."

If a gun store owner is this stupid we will never convince any other kind of store that creating a "LTC gun free zone" doesn't keep out BG's with guns. You just can't use logic with some people. Maybe loss of $$$ will work.

I'm tempted to ask the owner if he and his employees will show me their LTC's before I enter since I'm assuming they are armed. But I will probably just go have a passionate argument with a random 6 year old about how to fix the Social Security system. I think that would be less frustrating than talking with this guy.

They could carry on permission of the owner on his property without a LTC I believe. Logic on these people is NOT going to work.

What about people that are carrying without an LTC? You know, like criminals? I am sure the sign will keep them out also. :headscratch

I can understand the concern about keeping staff safe. I have heard many stories about idiots carrying loaded guns into gun stores looking for holsters or to get work done. I have heard of idiots unholstering for the same reason and pointing their gun all over the place. However, putting up 30.06 signs isn't going to stop that and it will just piss off potential customers.

Maybe they should partner with Safety Measures in Austin.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

"rlol" good one
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

Have they responded with better customer treatment?

If they have, I'd be willing to drive to their store (probably a 100/125 mile) round trip if I could simply walk in OCing and perhaps, buy something. Maybe buy a lot of somethings. Why not, I'm fabulously wealthy though I still want a bargain, ah if available, if not ok, I'll still buy it if I want it...

But, if they are still in their odd, well ok, bizarre posture (anti-gun gun even though they're in gun sales and associated gun stuff market...) not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent...

There is no indication that they have changed their laughable policy.

TVGuy,

I wonder how they stay in business?

Gun folk are generally down to earth, easy going, reasonable people, but don't pee on their shoes and tell them it's raining...they won't do business with you...

Abraham,

I have no idea, it's bizarre. You're exactly right, I don't think they will last too long.

How unique. If I show a card I can turn off 30.06 and 30.07? I would have thought showing the card would do the opposite, that it would prove I was qualified to be banned by the signs.

So if I show the card I can get in, but at the cost of admitting a 30.07/30.07 violation.

Or, if I don't have the card to show, I'm walking past signs that didn't apply to me, anyway.

I'm sure if I weren't as dumb as dirt I could figure that out.

On the other hand, if they came to visit me at my business they would be as welcome as the next guy, more so if they brought their pistolas with them 'cause I like gun nuts.

Hey, wait a minute, what am I thinking? These guys are merchants of DEATH, selling exactly the sort of demonic mechanisms I like to carry with me wherever I go. How could I possibly allow them in my establishment? Unless they were delivering my latest purchase, I would have to have my standards!

Their "logic" is a bit challenging to figure out. They have posted signs that only keep out LTC holders who are carrying a handgun. OK. So they are not OK with LTC holders carrying a handgun in their place. Got it. But they are OK with you carrying a handgun as long as you have an LTC. So they are OK with LTC holders carrying a handgun in their place.....

Oh well, at least we know that they are completely comfortable with off duty LEO's carrying whatever they want, and are also OK with everyone else carrying another other than a handgun (concealed rifles are just fine). Or maybe they aren't? Apparently "no" means "yes" and "yes" means "no" with these folks.

He posted on Facebook a couple of hours ago that the signs* have been taken down so now everyone that complained can come to the store tomorrow.

Come to think about it, he may have said "sign" so maybe only the 06 is gone.

(If it wasn't over three hours away I would stop by.)
