Re: Who else is a 45acp man?
Currently own five 45s and sold two others, but don't carry any of them any longer.....
In the end, it was about weight versus capacity. I'm not saying the Glocks are better guns than any of my .45s.....they're not....but fully loaded, my largest Glock, a G17, weighs less than most of my .45s fully loaded, with a lot more rounds on tap. And I don't mean to reignite the old 9mm vs .45 debate, but these days, with the quality of ammo having improved so much, I think the difference in effectiveness between the two calibers is less than it used to be. And having worked on more GSW fatalities than I care to remember, most of them shot DRT with a .22, shot placement is king. They didn't seem any deader just because they were shot with a caliber beginning with "4"......although a .41 Magnum with hollow points makes a truly impressive exit wound......more like a high velocity rifle hunting bullet.
There is something virile and "manly" about carrying a .45, but I'm past caring about things like that. But I'm not selling any of mine because I do like to shoot them.
- 1943 Ithaca 1911A1, my dad's WW2 sidearm, I never carried it, but did use it sometimes as a "car gun" before I ever got a carry license.
- Springfield Loaded 1911A1, used to carry
- M&P45 full-size, used to carry
- XDM-45 Compact 3.8 Stainless, used to carry
- XDS-45 Two-tone, used to carry
- Sig GSR 1911 4" Carry Stainless, used to carry (Sold)
- Kimber Ultra Carry II Stainless, used to carry (Sold)

I am, as of today. My Para USA GI LTC arrives at my FFL around mid-day, if the USPS can be trusted.
I also have and carry .380, 9mm, and .357. This will be my first venture beyond .36 cal. since my Army days.

Re: Who else is a 45acp man?
Paraordnance P14 45acp, hogue grips, tritium nite sites, ambi safety, this is my EDC, carry one spare mag this gives me 29 rds on me, if certain segments of the population go crazy I have a dual mag carrier i can switch to, I do not leave my house without my pistol Ever!
I'm confident in my pistol, the round it shoots and my ability to put a 230gr hydrashok on target!

Re: Who else is a 45acp man?
I used to carry a G30SF with HSTs and a spare G21 mag. I used to live where there are monthly indoor GSSF matches. Different courses of fire required having to fire 10 amount of rounds at differing times and distances. You also had to shoot weak hand only. I found that sometimes I wouldn't fire all of my rounds. The shot to shot recovery took too long. I used my wife's G19 and I did much better. Shot to shot recovery and speed and accuracy improved including with just support hand. Because of this I now carry a G19 with HSTs. I still have the G30 and will carry it if I have to but now prefer not to. Some day I'll get a 1911 for bullseye/range shooting.
Sent to you from Galt's Gulch.

Re: Who else is a 45acp man?
My primary is an XDS45, 3.3" barrel. With the 5 + 1, it's a pocket pistol.
If the XDS is by itself, I have two 7-rounders in my Springer double mag carrier.
If I can carry 2 pistols, the Ruger SR9C in 17 + 1 of 9MM replaces the
XDS mags.

Re: Who else is a 45acp man?
1911 Colts; 3 government size (2 series 80 and a 70) and a combat commander... all 45's. Soon to add a Colt Defender but considering it to be 9mm. Haven't decided yet.
