I had planned to take up deer hunting again this fall, at Red River Army Depot. Then a new commander came along, and closed it to everyone except military and DoD civilian employees.
That leaves me with nothing but Corps of Engineers land at Wright Patman. I'll give it a go, but I'm not confident.

Exactly!! And the sad thing is now you can't get a LEASE just to get a LEASE. It has to be per person. Meaning I couldn't get a Lease a for say 1200.00 an d go with my son or daughter etc and both of us hunt.Jungle Work wrote: Maybe somebody can explain to me how a man or woman of average means is suppose to take their sons and daughters and expose them to the joy of hunting.
And folks wonder why there is a reduction in the number of hunters.
Me, I beleive that my grandchildren will see it come to pass where the only Hunting in US and Texas is done by the "Royality" as it is in Great Britian.
And that will be the end of the Second Admendment for the US.

It's all just bull. I'm very lucky in that I have family land. 100 acres that I can hunt dove, quail etc on. It was an ok place for Deer as well meaning that I could harvest at least a 6pt every season. However the idiot land owner to the North decided to put a Game Fence and it has screwed me over. Now I'm lucky if I even see a Doe.
I also have other family members with little pieces of land throughout Texas and they invite me for a weekend hunt etc so that is fine with me. I really feel sorry for those that want to hunt but don't have private land.
I guess theres always Fishing.
Game fence,
As I'm not a hunter you'd think I wouldn’t mind,
But how does the state and other interested non-hunting groups expect the wildlife to remain "Free and natural" if all the ranch owners enclose "Their de er and any thing else that can not jump 8 feet?
At the rate ranchers are upping game fences ,in another 20 years their want be any ability for the wildlife to move around. So much for migration of any thing with out wings.
PS some one please tell spell check I mean d e e r not Dear
