Isn't that self contradictory? If the state eliminated all restrictions, people would be able to carry anywhere, including your private property (that was also a public accommodation) whether you wanted them to or not. So with no state restrictions, it wouldn't be your business whether someone carried, it would be up the each CHL himself.KBCraig wrote: My solution would be to eliminate all statutory restrictions on carrying in or on private property, even state-licensed places of public accommodation. I agree with you.KBCraig wrote:My solution would be to eliminate all statutory restrictions on carrying in or on private property, even state-licensed places of public accommodation. However, bars and certain health care facilities are the only private property where carrying a weapon is totally illegal. Churches must be posted to make it illegal to carry there, the same as any other private property. The administration of a school can permit weapons to be carried there.
I also want to mention that regardless of the law, the only way private property owners can effectively keep weapons off the property is to install metal detectors or frisk everyone, and make sure that the guards do their job right. Some people miss or ignore signs, and criminals disregard them.
