This is what I keep my home defense shotgun loaded with. I have complete faith in 15 #1 lead balls doing the job if I ever need it.
I ordered a case from them in May of 2015 and paid $40 more than they're asking today.

Perfect timing. I literally just bought a KSG today from another forum member and my range bans both birdshot and slugs, so only buckshot allowed.

Just in case SG Ammo sells out here's another website that just had some arrive both 5 pack and cases of 250. They had 45 cases in stock when I got the notification. Free shipping so the price is about the same as SG Ammo of 179.95+16.50 shipping. Target Sports is 199.50 no shipping fee.
https://www.targetsportsusa.com/federal ... 58630.aspx I'm really looking forward to trying it with a couple of SG's of which I posted a range report using 2-3/4" 00 Buck.

See Pumaguy's link. I missed the SGAmmo deal, but got them from Target Sports. I have previously had nothing but good experiences with both companies. The Annoyed Man wrote:out of stock again!Bitter Clinger wrote:http://www.sgammo.com/product/12-gauge- ... d-le132-1b

Ya'll might want to read the above before getting all giddy about using low recoil buckshot for self defense.
Keep in mind that when you reduce recoil, you are also reducing velocity and energy.

The Federal LE #1 buck is not low recoil. It just has a flight control wad that holds the pattern tighter for longer distance.
I'll have to look it up, but I belive it is about 1250 fps.
It definitely has plenty of recoil.
Edit to correct: the product depicted is low recoil.
The #1 flight control I have is not low recoil. Sorry

I wish I had the link, but that story has been de-bunked... sort of. While it's true that buckshot fell out when his jacket was removed, that buckshot had actually penetrated all the way through the BG and was stopped by the leather jacket on the other side. IOW, the buckshot penetrated the jacket & went all the way through the BG. By that time, it did not have enough energy left to penetrate the leather jacket a second time.LeonCarr wrote:http://www.stoppingpower.net/forum/topi ... C_ID=21994

I just looked at a box. It does indeed say "Low Recoil" and the velocity is listed as 1100 fps.Jusme wrote:The Federal LE #1 buck is not low recoil. It just has a flight control wad that holds the pattern tighter for longer distance.

I have tested it repeatedly in my Mossberg 930 SPX semi-auto and it works flawlessly, ejecting the hulls with authority. The 930 SPX has a reputation of not working well with slower or lighter loads. This had me concerned until I put mine through the paces. I can dump 8 rounds just as fast as I can pull the trigger.
