Though the shooter is unwilling to discuss the incident, I did have the chance to chat briefly with a friend of his who was at the the range that day. He says that his friend, though unharmed, is too embarrassed to discuss the mishap.

Yeah, I don't think I would want to talk about it either.

He almost won the Darwin award of the week. :banghead:

I'm pretty sure S&W doesn't cover repairs for stupidity.

Now don't be too sure about that! I'll bet nowhere in the owners manual does it explicitly say do not shoot 9mm in your 40 S&W M&P pistol.

Apparently all that verbiage was too confusing for this guy. "rlol"

I have a lot of 9mm guns and a lot of .45 ACP guns. I have avoided getting any .40 cal guns just because the ammo would be too easy to confuse with my other guns. Recently I acquired my one and only .40. A Kel-Tec sub-2000. With all of the 30.06 signs I really had a need for this concealable rifle, and I could not find anything in 9mm.

When I take this baby to the range, it goes by itself and there are no rounds of other calibers anywhere near the range bag. In fact, this gun is my only one with a dedicated range bag. An old laptop case that doubles as it's carry case. No 9mm or other ammo ever sees the inside of that case.

According to the report, this guy intentionally loaded alternating 9mm and 40 cal in the mag, trying to show that the gun would fire both. He was at least half right... or does that make him a half wit?
