Kahr PM9 vs CM9

#1

Post by cmgee67 »

Ok guys so here's my dilemma. I have been looking the Kahr CM9 which is the cheaper PM9 basically. I went to my gun shop to check em out and he didn't have a Cm9 but he had a used PM9 in great shape and only wanted 395$ for it. Should I get the used PM9 or a new CM9? I'm at a crossroads

?
I price shopped, I don't see a PM9 lower than $469.00 on gunbroker/gunsamerica etc
with either cm9 or pm9 you must run many dollars of ammo to break one in ... I'd get used (I really got a lemon cw40 once, but I couldda been limpwristing it, but the 40 was snappy.)

The used PM9 sounds like a sweet deal to me.

I went though the same dilemma few months ago. I decided on a CW9 due to:

1. Cheaper price
2. the PM9 is similar for Glock 27 which for me the pinky is hanging. By the time you add the extended mag in order to get a full grip, you ends up at same length as CW9.
3. CW9 weighs only 2 oz more but I can get a full grip and one more round in the gun.

Assuming the PM9 isn't totally beat up, that's probably your best choice. As others have noted, you are getting a really good gun and saving the time and expense of breaking it in.

I would jump on the pm9 deal, always nice saving the amount of ammo needed to break in a Khar. Great guns though!

I have the PM9 that is my everyday carry. The only differences I have found on the CM9 is the slide is not as milled and finished out as the PM9, and they usually don't come with night sights. From all I can tell the frames and trigger mechanisms are identical.

As for the used PM9, I have seen some people trade them in or sell them because they are 'unreliable and jam'. However, they have not run them through the minimum 200 round break-on period. I personally have never had an issue with mine, but I usually do some more fit and finish polishing on my new guns prior to much shooting.

At $395, as stated, if it's not beat to pieces it would be a good deal, especially if is had night sights!!

Unless it's a beater $395 is a great deal. Especially if it has night sights and has with the extra magazine that comes with the PM.
